Previously posted an FPS I'd been working on as a techdemo, recently I've been working on a 3D dev kit for it that brings it all together with my 2D level editor PolyOne. Will probably release this publicly at some point, maybe open source in some part too. #gamedev deets in alt text

A screenshot of the 3D development kit I've been making for my own tools and FPS game, all developed with ENIGMA and LateralGM (FOSS tools based on older versions of Game Maker). This is in level viewer mode with an RTS-like camera and shows off an incomplete level, but with relatively complex geometry for the tech. The level was made in my tool PolyOne (available on itch.io) out of a combination of raw triangle lists and my own model placement & instantiation system that supports, scaling, Z rotation and skewing on the Z axis. My vertex color -based lighting system that supports colored point lights and directional lighting is also showcased. Still to reimplement from the FPS I posted earlier (unofficially named ENIGMABALLS) is smooth lighting support for rounded surfaces. All of this stuff will be used as the jumping off point for an additional level editor mode which will allow placement and modifying properties of models, lights and level properties such as directional light colour & vector, players spawn position etc.

Another screenshot of the same 3D devkit, but this time in a model builder mode, with a few random models strewn about. Key to this is that it gives the ability to create new models by combining existing models, which can then be reused in new models and so on, recursively. You could theoretically build a chair out of basic shapes then have it gib into its separate models when destroyed. Every placed submodel can have its own independent Z rotation XYZ scaling, with plans for the ability to substitute textures for each placed model and take advantage of the Z skewing capability mentioned in the alt text of the previous screenshot. Both levels and models use the JSON-like JSV format that my 2D editor works with and allows working with raw triangle lists to build level and model geometry from scratch.
The rocky texture way below is a remnant from an as yet unhandled triangle list within some models that represents collision volumes...
