There was another public meeting on February 11 where the Community & Library Services Commission approved the plaque, our statement was sent to both the council and the commission ahead of both meetings. They voted to approve despite hundreds of calls, emails and public speakers opposing the plaque

This is the statement issued by the Friends of the Library ahead of the city council vote on the plaque. The library and the FOTL are not responsible for the plaque.

The library is not responsible for the plaque. The plaque is the result of actions taken by the Huntington Beach City Council. city.council@surfcity-hb.org

The library is not responsible for the plaque. The library has been attacked by our city council for nearly 2 years. It is a city library, a city owned building. It is not the fault of the library.

The library is not MAGA, the Huntington Beach City Council are responsible for the MAGA plaque, the library has nothing to do with it and has no control over it.

Goodreads is owned by Amazon & there is an AMAZING alternative‼️ The StoryGraph is a black women-owned competitor to GoodReads with better UI in my opinion. When you sign up you can even transfer your data from Goodreads to StoryGraph!
