Even in Star Trek the computer didn't fly the ship or name the decisions. I'm pretty sure there were episodes of every version of the show where the computer took over and it was a bad thing. People that envision a highly technologically advanced society don't put the computer in charge.

It's funny to me to listen to sentiment around college teams. Northwestern played IU close so that apparently shows IU isn't as good, not that NW is good. But Florida beats Ole Miss and it means Florida is a super team. Anything to show IU was a fluke.

Now, reduce your rent just $200 a month over 10 years and you have $93k. So, rent that is too high and minimum wage not keeping up with inflation are keeping people from owning homes. But, I also see a lot of people driving Uber/grub hub with Mercedes. So, some of that are people's choices.

I made minimum wage when I was in high school in the 90's. $5.25. Today, with inflation, that $5.25 would get you $10.56. and the minimum wage is $7.25. At 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year, that's $6885 a year in lost wages. In 10 years, that's $69k.

That was my first point... That the rental market doesn't allow you to save up. I was able to get a VA loan but the rental market is out of control. Apartments should be cheaper so that people can save that money. And the fact that the minimum wage hasn't kept up.

That's not great but at least your rent isn't going to pay someone else's mortgage and your building some equity. After 10 years, and with no appreciation, you'd have $153k in equity. With modest appreciation, that could be $250k and now the $260k in interest isn't so bad.

If you put 20% down on a 30-year loan, with no HOA and 10k a year in property taxes (that's about what I pay) your mortgage payment is $3786 a month with insurance. In 10 years you'd have paid $260k in interest and $53k in principal.

7.5% used to be considered good. I'm not saying I wouldn't be disappointed but maybe the problem is the rental market not allowing you to save up. When a rental is higher than my mortgage payment for 1/2 the square foot, it's not the interest rate that's the problem.

Just an "internal directive" to an agency that is independent and not directly managed by the POTUS. The Board is required to be bi-partisan and they are required to act in a non-partisan manner. Meaning the POTUS doesn't get to order them to do something. Congress does.

The thing is, socialism has some good aspects. Gov't should manage some things, IMO, like health care. The problem here is that the GOP seems to always pick the worst of the options. And then they pretend their not the socialist, anti-capitalist, authoritarian regime.
