Yes, we should isolate and put severe sanctions on Russia/Russians, and anyone who helps them. Full trade embargo, no visas, close down the borders. Increase military & financial aid to Ukraine, at least 10x more than the current level. Europe should answer Russia's hybrid war with similar actions.

Of course Ukraine has a right to peace, but it's a meaningless phrase w/o defining what "peace" means. Here are my minimum demands; Russia... * leaves Ukrainian territory and stops attacking it * pays reparations * returns all abducted Ukrainians * hands over Putin et al to the ICC

The first question is leading, it suggests someone is nefariously using Ukraine as a pawn. Not true. The Ukrainian people want to be free after centuries of Russian oppression, that's really all it's about. You should watch the documentary Winter On Fire (it's free): archive.org/details/wint...

No, your interpretation isn't as good as anyone else, because it's patently false. Ukraine is a sovereign nation with the right to forge its own future, without any interference from Russia. Per the UN Charter "principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples" www.un.org/en/about-us/...

No, it's a pretext. A lie. Lies do not give him political cover. NATO isn't "expansionist", that's another lie. It has no inherent desire to "expand". Countries seek membership because they want protection against Russian invasion. NATO is a *defense* alliance. Russia knows that it isn't a threat.
Russia: NATO keeps expanding in our neighborhood!
Child: Oh no, they're attacking and annexing countries into NATO?
Russia: No, the countries are asking to join NATO themselves.
Child: But why would those countries want to join NATO?
Russia: 🤔
Russia: 😠

Terminate all EU visa for Russians. Total EU trade embargo with Russia/Belarus.
NO RUSSIAN TOURISM IN EUROPE

Most Russians support the war.
Russian tourists have been harassing and attacking Ukrainians abroad.
Many Russian government officials, under sanctions, have relatives living in the EU, spending stolen and corrupt money.
Denmark, the Czech Republic, Latvia & more have already stopped granting Russian visas.

No, you're falsifying history. When Russia invaded and annexed Crimea in 2014 Ukraine was a constitutionally neutral country, with no desire or plans to join any military alliance. This "NATO expansion" nonsense is a Kremlin false narrative to justify their illegal invasion.
Cartoon:
A man confronts a girl with a Russian flag on her head: "Why did you invade Ukraine? Is it NATO expansion? Woke culture? U.S. meddling? Just tell us, PLEASE!"
Russian girl: "We're waging a genocidal conquest to end the Ukrainian state."
Man: "It's the NATO expansion, isn't it?!"

I absolutely reject the idea that genocide is something that's up for political bargaining. That's the red line you asked about. The only moral position is to fully support the victim and oppose the aggressor. Leaders in Shoebridge's position must be crystal clear on this, he failed on basic morals.

They're both genocides. Russia illegally invaded Ukraine in a war of imperial conquest with the intent to destroy the Ukrainian state and eradicate its people, culture, language, and history. A textbook genocide. Being neutral to an ongoing genocide is immoral and inexcusable.
We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.

And what do the Greens want the rest of the world to do if China were to invade Australia and begin slaughter them all? Do they favor a "non violence stance" then too?

So because you (and the Greens) are not in the government you don't have to defend your immoral position on genocide? I suggest you follow Elie Wiesel's advice and stop siding with a genocidal aggressor.

fosfene.bsky.social @fosfene.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
No, that reasoning is flawed. People who are DEFENDING themselves against a genocidal invader are NOT taking a "violent stance". It's our moral obligation to help the victim in every way we can. That's not about "seeking to use violence", it's about stopping the aggressor from doing violence.

The Ukrainian people are defending themselves against an invading genocidal army. They have agency in their own fate. Calling it a proxy war is a lie and an insult to their fight for freedom & democracy after centuries of Russian oppression.
