I really wanted to like it here but I don’t :/ Tips for for music people who need to stay connected with audiences but want to move here?

This really resonates. I aspire to be more aware of my ableist privilege and combating it.

Big Tech has lived by, “Move Fast and Break Things.” So they destroyed everything quickly and now we are here. No more. Indigenous practices have always shown us that the way is to Move Slow and Repair Things. Plant, grow, replenish, reparations, regenerate.

So, amongst the grossness of that Oval Office debacle last week, the AP and Reuters were not allowed in the room, but a reporter from Russian State media was present. Hard to chalk that up to idiocracy and shock & awe tactics.

Hi, this isn’t a scam, I shared the story behind knowing Jason & my admiration for him, on FB, it’s too long for here. He’s a true electronic music devotee. I’m playing his last party in April “Rave To The Grave”, a mantra of his we never imagined using in this context. Thx for checking.

Thanks for sharing this Kat. It’s a fantastic reminder of what’s important. While I treasure my son and am immensely proud of him, amongst all the other pieces of parenthood (and life), really sitting with the blessing of parenting this creative, is a precious practice.

"This category was introduced in 1989 & 3 women have won, Lauren Hill, Cardi B & Doechii... Don’t allow anybody to project any stereotypes on you, that tell you that you can’t be here, that you’re too dark or that you’re not smart enough or that you’re too dramatic or you’re too loud…. 👇🏽

#TheGrammys had me teary more than once last night! Dominated by women, black and brown folks, and loud proud messaging, it was affirming, reassuring and inspiring. Doechii’s speech (and a couple of other moments) had me full on 😭🥹 👇🏽

This reminded me that this is an egoic game, which is valuable. It doesn’t lessen the severity of the actions, but it does give some power back.

Jessica Fortune Fenner @fortune0074.bsky.social · 31/01/2025

Thanks for this, helpful to be reminded that this is a game - one that puts lives on the line - but an egoic stunt nonetheless. It gives a little power back.

History (and nature) shows us we exist in cycles. This is not the end of the world, this is an expected season. Recognizing patterns is power. We can use these tough times to become more. And spring absolutely will come….

I suppose it could be taken as virtue signaling if a non-black promoter organized something. Probably no black promoters in the WI electronic music archive either!
