Happy Holiday everyone! I have really enjoyed posting here in Blue Sky and seeing all the wonderful photos of birds from around the world, but as I look towards the new year, I have decided to keep my focus on IG. If you would like to follow along on there, I would greatly appreciate it!

Though I don't like when people leave out seeds, I do like when I happen to be privy to the bird watching of rare birds like the #RedBelliedWoodpecker ❤️ #birdsoftheworld #birdphotography #birdphotos #birding #birdnerd #birdwatching #birders #birdoftheday #🪶 #naturephotography #canadianbirds

There are so many duplicates in the great world of birding, including the #HairyWoodpecker and #DownyWoodpecker! I was very lucky to be able to capture both of them in the same spot one year apart. The photos act as a great size comparison! #birdsoftheworld #canadianbirds #birdphotos

Most people ignore this bird! Why? Because it is a #mockingbird! Which means sometimes you don't know its there given it copycat sounds of other bird songs. #birds 🪶 #birdsoftheworld

This one zipped by and caught my eye! I chased this #VermillionFlycatcher all around a park in #Lima once I saw its stunning orange head and red belly. It finally settled on the tip top of this tree for only a moment, but just long enough so I could capture it! 🐦‍🔥 #birdsofperu #birdphotography 🪶

Update on the Ostrich Farm culling: - cows and pigs also carry H5N1 and can transmit it - the CFIA is allegedly paying $3000/bird - current regulation required the destruction of all birds on farms that had or have the virus (More comments in thread)

#SparklingVioletears are fairly commonly spotted around #Peru in search of nectar, however, this little one was in search of a mate and sat a top this tree for hours, chirping away! Violetears are a specific group of #hummingbirds known for their violet or blue-eared colouring. #birdsoftheworld 🪶

#PeruvianBirds are stunning and this #AmaziliaHummingbird is no different! Did you know that Amazilia does not come from the Amazon River or the Amazon rainforest. It's actually from a fictional character, Amazili, from a novel by Jean-François Marmontel. #birding #birdsoftheworld #birds 🪶
