His opponent, Marsie West, has been working toward a seat on the board since 2023. She first ran for the board in 2024, then continued showing up at County Commission meetings and speaking out on local issues. The difference in how they arrived at this race isn’t the only contrast worth looking at.

Chris Parker is currently serving on the Board of Commissioners, but voters didn’t put him there. After longtime Commissioner Don Martin retired this summer, the Forsyth County Republican Party appointed Parker to fill the vacant seat. This November will be Parker’s first run for elected office.

So how should you choose? The Court of Appeals Seat 3 offers a clean slate. The current judge is not seeking reelection, leaving an open seat. Christine Walczyk and Craig Collins are both judges, but neither has served on the Court of Appeals.
