Also lol I've read Heir to the Empire the whole point of Thrawn as a villain is that he *wasn't* a one dimensional mustache-twirling villain but I don't think Dave Filoni has the subtlety to create an engaging villain mostly because he has the moral simplicity of a child

It's cuz the Odyssey and other ancient Greek works have been folded into the canon of 'western civilization.' Unironically this was part of the process that made the modern greek nation european/white, and it's my guess that most people don't see a problem w it because they view greece as white.

And I refuse to say that the solution to this is to cast Greek actors as I think this legitimates the notion that Modern Greece is the sole inheritor of Ancient Greece and that this is somehow related to ethnic "Greekness." Therefore, Odysseus should be Albanian.
