All phenomena are fleeting. He/him. For those who don't know me from other social media sites: Waffles (Waf) is the name of our dog, not the name of my husband. [Update: Waf was. Marlowe is now our dog's name, not my husband's. Waf is now a name for love.]

Both baffled and also isn't that medieval music? Like, remove the words and it sounds like something from the 1300s.

In a thread about how masculinity is used in Lonesome Dove and found the perfect way to drop this very weird thing I read about Home Improvement.

Tho! Speaking of Home Improvement--a show I never watched but know the characters--this might've been an interesting take. No clue if this is legit, but it's from the trivia of One Hour Photo.
An early version of the script was conceived as a feature-film adaptation of Home
Improvement (1991). The original screenplay had Al Borland fired from Tool Time and working at a one-hour photo store, where he becomes obsessed with photographs of a suburban family and increasingly loses touch with reality. Tim Taylor discovers Al's collection and offers him his old job back, believing it will help him "get his head straight." Al agrees and appears to abandon his obsession. In the final scene, however, Al notices a photograph of the Taylor family behind the Tool Time set and quietly stares at it before slipping it into his toolbox. The project fell apart when the studio decided the material was too dark for Home Improvement. The story was subsequently rewritten around a new character, with Robin Williams eventually taking the lead role

The miniseries did occasionally miss, but it did I think force the characters into new places where they got a chance to explore the cracks. The book handles it much better, but the adaptation--to me--preserves the idea of how masculinity can mean more than brutishness and stoicism.

Breaking Bad was one of those shows that changed how I viewed television. Everything on the show was vital--even the much maligned Marie clepto storyline had a point. Mitte was integral to the show, and amazing in the role, and by all accounts a human who refused to be anything other than vital.
bryancranston I'm in deep despair as I write this tonight.
RJ Mitte, my sweet son on Breaking Bad has died.
I met him when he was only 14 years old when he was cast as Walter White Jr., a part he played with such joy and enthusiasm.
Born with Cerebral Palsy, he never - ever - allowed that challenge to be an excuse for anything. He met the demanding shooting schedule head on with great determination.
Always listening to the advice that his TV parents (Anna Gunn and myself) gave him - but being a teenager, sometimes mischievously ignoring the counsel in order to learn the hard way... He was one of the stars of a hit TV show - but still a kid.
That kid was pretty raw when we started shooting the pilot in February of 2007, but little by little we watched him grow into a really fine actor. He parlayed his experience on the show to be a vocal advocate for performers with disabilities, and was the head of a philanthropic organization with a focus on helping the disabled community.
All that promise and potential now is such a loss.
It is especially devastating to hear that he took his own life.
Why?
We were texting each other just a few weeks ago - figuring out when we could meet for lunch. I don't know if that lunch would have changed his future...
But I do know that I loved him, and thoroughly enjoyed being with him throughout the years on the series, and after the spotlight on Breaking Bad dimmed...
I'll miss you, son.
I can't stop there without imploring anyone who is contemplating suicide to please call for the support you need at 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (https:// 988lifeline.org/). There is hope.

I have thought that many times. But I'd also think it'd be the opposite: show the white guy's dong, but hide the person of color. BUT WHO CARES? It's goddamn Michelangelo's David. There's a whole Simpsons episode from like 35 years ago about how we don't censor art like this.

Reminds me of how you can post Donatello's David on here and not get tagged for adult content, but you can post Michelangelo's David and it is censored. These algorithms make zero sense.

Continuing the rewatch of Oz and still processing that sweet Chip from 'Kate and Allie' was tossed in The Hole and I got to see his peener. And since I watched this as it aired, I somehow didn't recall. Poor Chip.

It does seem like Loren is kinda pissy he had to fire Gillis, and keeps trying to redeem his casting choice by having the guy on repeatedly. It's more weird than anything: Lorne has fired people for lesser offenses and only had them back when/if they had a movie or TV show that went huge.

She visited us up here during the gluten-free diet thing and got so tired of explaining her needs to waiters that when one said, gluten won’t hurt you, she responded, it you want me to shit on the floor after I eat, fine. It’s a tough disease to get people to even acknowledge.

Ms Rachel from the top ropes
From Ms Rachel's account on Threads, she writes, "CORECIVIC, a company that makes hundreds of millions locking up KIDS in immigration detention
has a PAC that's sending campaign checks to Senator Susan Collins of Maine.
Susan Collins chairs the Senate committee that writes ICE's budget.
ICE is CoreCivic's customer.
The company gets paid out of a budget she controls, and it pays into her campaign."

Ultimately, the fact that Lorne Michaels doesn't care about EITHER take 1 or 2 is a pretty solid reflection of Lorne Michaels' sensibility at this point. Every time he does something like this, "Platformed bigots and autocrats in the name of ratings" moves up higher on his obituary. 3/2

What I read is that lot of that voice work was done and paid and not many of the people who did the voice work even remembered doing it (I'm reminded of Michelle Pfeiffer being baffled when someone asked her to sign a Simpsons DVD--she didn't know she'd been in an iconic episode).

I'm not even sure the Rifftrax or MST3k writers could do anything with it. It's just sort of a mélange of ideas and because of all the people involved doesn't really even get to Manos levels of bad--it's in a liminal space where it went too far yet doesn't go far enough.
