I grew up with TNG and took a while for Original Trek to grow on me ..... but as an adult my favourite has been Enterprise .... we even named our beagle Porthos after the one on board!!

Drawn by a good friend of ours for our star trek beagle Porthos (named after the beagle on Enterprise with Capt. Archer).

Saw this on Facebook and it struck a nerve, as it should!
"A society that forces a 90-year-old to use a smartphone in order to access basic rights is not a modern society; it is a society that has decided to cast aside its own elders.

By 2026, everything has become an app, a code, a portal. Yet the very people who built this country with their own hands n ow find themselves illiterate in their own homes. If booking a medical appointment or paying a bill requires the help of a son (or daughter) or a grandchild (it says granddaughter) -- assuming there is one -- then the system has failed.

This is not innovation. It is exclusion.

Technology should serve people, not determine who is still entitled to dignity.

When we leave behind those who came before us, we are not evolving. We are merely becoming more comfortable -- and more selfish."

Yeah, our boy had a heated jacket for the truly bitter days along with his hated boots. I remember that at one point in his life, I had crocheted a snood for him, but unfortunately, I do not have pictures of it. He had other lighter coats and sweatshirt-type affairs as well.

I know the feeling somewhat. I keep wishing I could talk to Mom about medical matters (she was always the one I turned to for that), especially now that I have a medical condition she had. They are always there in your heart, but some days, it is not the same.
One of my favourite pictures of her (she is on the left) and her Mom is on the right.

This is it when it is configured to connect to a bike. It also came with a wheel for to replace the tow-bar (it folds underneith) and it has a stroller bar as well.

Him in his mobile home (also helped us get him up the stairs, though it took both of us to safely do it. It is a 3-wheeled stroller cart.

A year or two before our Porthos passed he hurt his back legs (2 seperate instances) & we had to help get him up and down the stairs (4 flights) to waddle for potty time for quite a while. Here he is looking a bit smug if you ask me just after the first injury. He had never been in this cart before.

The second prompt I chose was: Divide your page into three sections: Boredom, Flow, and Anxiety. Illustrate each state using imagery, symbols, colours, or patterns that reflect how they feel to you.
The writing in this piece was as follows:
Boredom:
Blocked
Stagnent

Flow:
Moving
Smooth
Growing

Anxiety:
Sharp
Abrupt

The first prompt I chose was: Draft a short “contract” between your creative self and your inner critic. Include boundaries, permissions, and shared goals. Beside it I did a little doodles regarding my inner critic (and Porthos added to both)
The writing says the following:
Be respectful
Listen before responding
Use "I" statements
Goal is growth
Mistake = learning
"Mistake" repeated = pattern

Today's workshop was a watercolour development session, and these were my 3 pieces from it .... 1st and 3rd had additional media elements of metallic crayon in the 1st and pencil crayon in the 3rd.
The background was done with watercolour blending; on top of that, a micron marker was used, and I added a little metallic crayon (yellow, green, and blue) for details. I used the micron marker to outline the trees, stars, and boxes beneath the trees. Straight watercolour here to draw blue flowers with green stems and leavesThis was an exercise using mostly wet-on-wet techniques. The top ones tended towards air creatures and elements (sun and a bird, for example), whereas the lower elements tended towards sea elements (coral, water plants and fish)

Useful for those who have access to a yard or even possible to use parts for a balcony?
Bird bath upgrades:
Elevated birdbath - add rock ramp, dripper to increase access and attraction of water source for flying visitors
Ground dish in shade for walking visitirs

It would seem that that amendment exists only for certain classes/people ..... seems like a bit out of Animal Farm "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others." A quote from the pigs in the book ...

That used to happen to Porthos with the sweatshirt he wore, though it rarely seemed to bother him, likely cause he could still sniff ....

In our "studying the masters" session today we were studying Katsushika Hokusai and using his work as inspiration. The first image relates to the US issues of late and how the country is being walled off (culturally? instead of a literal wall). The second is just inspired by his landscape styles.

If it is designed to require a "helper" in order to use, it is not accessible
If it involves going out of your way to find someone to unlock it, it is not accessible
If it is broken down and not able to be used, it is not accessible

Quite true .... only wish government and billionaires followed this logic
A simple rule in life: If you wouldn't like it done to you, don't do it to others.

So true! As long as they did not make the contribution penalize employees (beyond the upper level of course)
I'm tired of grocery stores asking me if I want to round up to end world hunger.

You're a $10 billion corporation and I'm out here using a coupon to save 50 cents on a bag of potatoes.

Why don't YOU donate to end world hunger.

Makes you wonder ....
Isn't it odd that:
-Food without pesticides is more expensive
-Food with less ingredients is more expensive
-Food that's healthy is more expensive
It's almost like they want us sick?

Just something I saw and thought worth passing along regarding feeding ducks (and likely applies to other waterfowl).
Hello, I' the duck
- Bread hurts my body and makes me sick
- Feed me halved grapes, oats, birdseed, corn, or pumpkin seeds
- Please keep the pond clean -- no leftover food

I don't need much, just the right kind of care. Your kindness keeps me alive.

High to be 33°C, currently it is 31°C and feels like 37°C due to humidex. Mostly cloudy with a wind out of the west with gusts of 17 km/hr.

Not sure what KPI means but the rest makes sense.
Finland didn't end homelessness with magic.
They just didn't treat it like a business plan.
You can still run a cafe, start a band, sell stocks online. Capitalism still works in Finland.
But they decided housing people didn't need to turn a profit.
Because sometimes, the moral thing is the practical thing. And no one thrives when their neighbour is sleeping in a tent by the river.
You can't KPI out of a crisis. Sometimes, you just have to give a dam.

RoundUp will kill your weeds, your pets, your kids, you, pollinators, bees, and entire hives for up to 3 miles (4.83km) away. If you really need to get rid of some weeds, use 1 gallon (3.79L) white vinegar, 1 cup salt, and a tablespoon of dish soap instead.

With all the snow we now have as you clean your driveway and walkway remember to keep all of these utilities and vents clear of snow. A blocked vent will not allow them to exhaust properly. Please check yours and any neighbours that may need assistance.
Keep the following clear from left to right:
Gas meter
Water heater exhaust
Furnace exhaust
Dryer vent
