Broke in my new Beulah Platinum 10'8" 3wt Euro rod with a Lamson Guru reel. Although I am new to Euro Nymphing, I loved this set up. Work horse flies of the day were the #18 tagged Walts Worm (point) and the #20 Perdigon (tag). #flytying #flyfishing

Extra wraps of non-lead heavy alloy wire plus the 3.3mm bead gets this fly quickly to the bottom zone.

Tied up some foam beetles to replenish my box. Then decided to try other foam fly patterns. An outdoor sports shop did not have what I was looking for. I went to a near-by craft store and found 12"x18" sheets of foam for 99 cents a sheet. Bamm! #flytying #flyfishing

Note: The craft store foam sheets were a little thinner than the 2mm foam I bought at a local fly shop. Will it make a difference??? First time trying detached body flies.

Don't forget to check river banks for active insect activity. Not always just midges in the winter. Snowed on us all day. But found this guy crawling around on the river bank. Madam-X and CDC Caddis flies brought fish to net today. #flyfishing #flytying
