Ford Versypt awarded $2.1 million NIH grant to study growth and break-up of tissues
She hopes that the research will allow physicians to better predict how to promote regeneration across different tissue systems in the body.

My sleep study was one of my worst nights of sleep ever, and they said everything is fine. Then charged me multiple thousand dollars out of pocket. Best wishes for your outcomes.

This might be too late, but perhaps use Word to format that one page with the BI heading and use Adobe to put the replace the page generated in tex.

Unless they change the eligibility rules, that's not a factor considered if you've previously applied as a graduate student.

You can't read the details yet, because they haven't actually released a solicitation yet. Just deadlines.

You only have one year of eligibility as a graduate student. The eligibility says "never previously applied to GRFP while enrolled in a graduate degree program."

The Harry Potter reference was great. Another set of two time stamps could've been Feb 2020 to now (or any interval after Mar 2020). We had no idea what Mar 2020 and beyond had in store for us and before/after snapshots hide the trajectories of drama in between

We got a door sign for my lab! I never remembered to ask until a staff member recently asked for updates from all the faculty. My hallway has all new lab signs from all the faculty who've joined in the last 6 years. My lab 404 will no longer get "404 not found" messages.

Happy to be working on this dream team project led by Viviana Monje in her NSF RIEF grant on teaching threshold concepts in statistics to ChE using computational notebooks. Matilde Sanchez-Pena and I are co-PIs on the team. Jinhui Li CBE PhD student created the poster & the notebook (QR code).

Throwback to 16.5 years ago at my first Thunder basketball team in the Ford Center during their first season. Oklahoma has loved and supported this team from the beginning. Not just OKC, but the entire state. Awesome for them to win it all at home! #ThunderUp

My PO had reached out in December to tell me it had been recommended for funding at the fall council (Jan 2024 submission). I was not funded until April due to continuing resolution and then the drama. The score is probably only worth comparing within program areas.

I will teach Honors Board Games in the fall as a 1 credit class for 1st engineers! I will serve as a UB Honors Faculty Fellow. They want faculty to share passions & connect into the UB community. It's perfect to connect my love for gaming, source of community & strategic skill development.

This one has been a roller coaster since the reviews came back last July. I'm sooooo thankful that it's at last awarded.

Because they have until their fiscal year budget runs out. Borderline proposals may get funded late in the fiscal year if there is funding left available. Or that's what has been the norm.

No. Anything in the October council has through the entire fiscal year (Oct-Sep) for a decision.

It's terrible that they led with the GOP leader quote and gave him air time. 1. He didn't stand in the cold at the rally. 2. He and they didn't cover any facts of the current situation. Real people have been fired. Funding has been cut and censored and delayed.

This is NOT suggesting that all US federal agencies that award scientific funding (DOE, DOD, NSF, EPA, USDA, FDA, NIH, NSF, etc.) have a combined review process in some centralized bureaucracy.

To clarify, this is all for the National Institutes of Health, which has scientific institutes and a separate Center for Scientific Review. The CSR already handles most of the reviewing. However, Institutes like the National Cancer Institute have special panels in some circumstances.
110 1
Ashlee N. Ford Versypt @fordversyptlab.bsky.social · 06/03/2025
They normally meet right around the New Year. Presumably most if not all of those panels met virtually before the inauguration.

Yes. Use all of the space, but it doesn't have to be with text or dense figures with miniscule fonts. If 12 pages are allowed and someone submits only 9 or 10, they put themselves at a disadvantage of not using the remaining space to provide more details.
