I could probably even do a third list of 9 for just anime series but instead of that I did a list of 9 anime movies instead. I gave myself a limit of 3 Miyazaki films bc let’s be honest this could’ve easily been nothing but Miyazaki movies.

List of the 9 anime films that influenced me: Metropolis, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Wolf Children, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Akira, Castle in the Sky, Paprika, The End of Evangelion, and Ghost in the Shell.

And my number 1 soda I’d bring back: Holiday Spice Pepsi! The 2004 holiday season wasn’t great but this soda made it better. Pepsi with just a pinch of cinnamon and ginger, it was the most sophisticated flavor profile I’d ever tasted in a can of pop. Sadly it is now only made in the North Pole.

2. R/C Edge. Briefly used for marketing the WWF, this one’s my personal favorite and the closest I’ll get to having original Jolt. Oh how I miss when they were out of ideas for sodas and just started putting taurine and ginseng in every other thing. I’ll never forget you super caffeinated cola.

3. Red Fusion (aka Dr. Pepper Red Fusion). The superior Cherry Dr. Pepper, but the company didn’t think so. You can emulate the flavor pretty well however by getting a fountain drink and combining 50/50 Cherry Coke and Dr. Pepper wherever they have both, so at least it still lives on in some form.

4. Citra. Originally this was Coke’s answer to 7Up’s Squirt, and to be honest I thought it tasted better than Squirt. I couldn’t get enough of this stuff when I was on vacation 24 years ago. It eventually got rebranded into Fanta Citrus which is supposedly still available in some of the Middle East.

5. Hansen’s Energy. The original energy drink in my book, this with Red Bull opened the floodgates on the concept of energy drinks to the public. This would go on to be retooled into everyone’s favorite: Monster. But if you ask me Hansen’s Energy was so much tastier.
