A screenshot of the satirical Australian website “The Chaser”. The headline reads “Aussies miss when morning routine didn’t involve finding out whatever the fuck this cunt did today” over a picture of Donald Trump.

From over on threads.
“Hey, remember that scene in Andor when the senator from Gorman got dragged away by stormtroopers for speaking out against what the Empire was doing on his planet?
It just popped in my mind. No reason, I guess.”

Below this is a still from that scene.

Don’t make me tap the sign.
"You need to understand the difference in politics between a[n] orderly prosperous extremely well-governed Commonwealth country and the United States. Australians look at the United States, I'll be quite frank, and they just look at the United States and go
"that's a failed state"."

The rest of the world does not share your optimistic appraisal of the situation.
A mock-up of a textbook, open to a chapter entitled “It Can Happen Here”, opposite a still of Kimberly Guilfoyle addressing a 2020 Trump/Pence electoral rally.

If what Americans see is your first image, then the rest of the world is seeing what the Americans see. The attached screencap was taken just now, here in Australia.

Nazis break the social contract of tolerance by being Nazis. There is no reason to tolerate them, or their speech.

Ignoring the danger won’t make it go away.
Listen up, those of you saying "oh, an executive order can't do that."
You're missing the point.
You're not wrong that an EO can't just erase things.
But you missed the fact that, ON DAY ONE, he's trying to erase things--things that help a lot of people. The intent is there, and the tenacity is rabid.
If you feel safe about it, you're not paying attention.

The other half of his followers are trying to convince us it didn’t happen. Or that it was a “Roman salute”, when there’s no such thing.

No it’s not. As per kb.osu.edu/bitstreams/0..., page 2 of the text, no such salute existed in Rome. It’s a Nazi gesture, made only by Nazis.
“not a single Roman work of art—sculpture, coinage, or painting — displays a salute of the kind that is found in Fascism, Nazism, and related ideologies. it is also unknown to Roman literature and is never mentioned by ancient historians of either republican or imperial Rome. The gesture of the raised right arm or hand in Roman and other ancient cultures that is attested in surviving art and literature had a significantly different function and is never identical with the modern straight-arm salute.”

Never seen a country so eager to speedrun the process.
