That’s not the end of it. Once the arbitration tribunal’s decision is made, one of the parties may then consider taking things to the quaternary level. Rule X.50 identifies that challenges under s. 67-71 of the Arbitration Act 1996 apply, albeit that point-of-law challenges under s.69 do not.

Once the Appeal Board’s decision is made, one of the parties may then consider taking things to the tertiary level by challenging the Appeal Board’s decision by arbitration (see r. W.97 and the grounds for review identified in r. X.4).

Once the appeal hearing has finished, the Appeal Board’s decision must be provided within 30 days thereafter (r. W.95). However, this is again subject to variation pursuant to r. W.85 (see earlier post).

I don’t read that statement as indicating that #MCFC has some further and/or fresh evidence that they did not disclose and rely upon before the PL Commission. But, if there is fresh evidence that MCFC wants to rely upon in any appeal, they will need to make an application to rely upon it (r. W.88).

Happy Manchester City Appeal Announcement Day! (I know nothing, but I think we’re all anticipating it.) PL Rules, r. W.86 provides Standard Appeal Directions that would ordinarily see, inter alia, an appeal concluded within 12 weeks of being made. However, those directions can be varied (W.85).

We can see that - amongst other things - City will be sanctioned for three PSR breaches (subject to any appeal of course).

And I say back to you Mr President, how does article 42 of the FIFA Statutes sit with your summary of independence?

RBFA are *not* happy about FIFA’s Balogun decision, and quite rightly.

Very fortunate to be going to the Europa League Final this Wednesday in Istanbul. Promises to be an amazing match (both teams with great league results going into it). Not to get too superstitious, but the fact that my flight to Istanbul is TK1982 must be a good omen?! #AVFC #UTV #UEL

Benfica's Gianluca Prestianni sanctioned with a six-match ban (three of those matches suspended for two years) following use of discriminatory language against Vini Jr. in Benfica's #UCL match against Real Madrid on 17.2.2026.

Delighted to have such positive feedback in the recent Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners rankings for sport. You can feel isolated at bar at times, and receiving this recognition means a lot and gives a sense that you’re working the right way.

Great to be back for the new season. Cagey match - felt like pre-season still. Both sides had good chances to score. Bizot made some fantastic saves in the first half. Villa held together well following Konsa’s red card. Should only be a 1-match ban for Konsa (see 2nd row in table). #AVFC #NUFC

An unforgettable match, and a pleasure to have been there going crazy with my dad. Despite losing the QF tie overall, the effort and determination shown by Villa makes it that much easier to bear. Now to focus on qualifying for the UCL and winning the FA Cup! #UTV #AVFC

‘At the end of a match that was initially controlled before giving ourselves a real scare…’ What a match it was - delirium when Konsa’s goal went in! Fully believed Villa were going to get a fourth goal (or more!), and came so close with efforts from Tielemans, Asensio and Maatsen. #UTV #AVFC

Compare now, too, that the FA are willing to take action against Millwall FC for their fans' chants against Crystal Palace FC. Astounds me that more is not being said / done about this. #MUFC #MCFC #CPFC

There is scope to do so under FA Rules, r. E21 (and, let's be honest, r. E.24). The chant was undoubtedly improper, offensive, abusive, indecent, insulting and provocative, and was being made because of gender.

Duran sanctioned with a £15,000 fine for his conduct after being sent off in #AVFC v #NUFC on 26.12.2024. Regulatory Commission's written reasons for the sanction are available here: www.thefa.com/news/2025/ja... Para. 18 of the written reasons sums things up nicely:
