I received Ghosts & Scholars #50, containing my first non-computing-related published article! On top of that, I got a nice mention by the amazing Rosemary Pardoe in the editorial. (swoon) That said, this is the final issue of a publication that I've read for decades, so my feelings are bittersweet.

Behold the most confused board game ever: A 1970s "executive"-style Go set with a gold-etched playing surface, Summer Olympic motifs, and a box that says "Chinese Chess"... Seems like a specialty item from the 1960-70s associated with an Olympics hosted in asian... 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo?

Breaking out an old game design that I couldn’t get working…. 10 years ago. 🤷‍♂️ sure to work this time.
A bag, some cards and some cubes do not make a game.

Whenever I visit Japan, I tend to prefer the vast varied and lovely tracks of country where tourist seldom go, and no language but Japanese is spoken save for perhaps the thick dialects of the older generation, which sounds to me like an inscrutably different language altogether.
A field flashes by in rural Japan and Mount Fuji ducks behind a building in the distance.
