- the extra rear buttons are nice, but if i need extra buttons for a game that detects controller vs keyboard, it seems likely to get messy since the buttons aren't really recognized without mapping to something else. - start and select are really high up. rear buttons are good replacements.

- i'm used to running around with the left thumbstick and "cheating" dpad inputs with my right thumb. with the dpad left of the left thumbstick, this is not possible here. i can set a touchpad to act like a dpad, but it's not as tactile and requires forethought.

just got a steam controller today, my review (coming from an xbox one controller): - all default control schemes are not good enough. - i don't know how to hold it right yet. i like my middle fingers high up the back as counter-pressure for button presses, but the natural spot runs into the trigger.

i like the bigger effects (frog jump, dash slash), or ones targeted at a specific play pattern. like a pogo one that made your downward aerial attack deal less damage or have a bigger hitbox could be cool. i would rather have that funky kind than just "number bigger"

i didn't understand the frog crouch jump one. the dash slash seemed very strong because it did more damage than an attack. equipping from wherever but not while paused is an interesting middle ground. (ok i went back and figured out the frog jump one. might need v/sfx to help show what's happening)

i couldn't really form an opinion on the grid part from the demo because it wasn't big enough to be different from just "you get 4 slots" i did think placing one on the same slot as others should remove them without needing to do that directly (maybe with a "confirm?" prompt or an undo)

i made up "world-picking" because prodding at the edges of the world looking for a way to progress, then using that progress on another sweep of the world reminded me of lock-picking (or my understanding of it) but i still say metroidvania because explaining all this is mostly not worth it

can't believe this is what got me to try a demo the walljump is fine, maybe it's the alternating spike walls they're upset about? also the game is fun! super playful, love the little squeaky-toy bounce when you long-fall it did crash toward the end for me, idk how to send useful info about that tho

i think my main problem with it is the "superintelligent" replace "superintelligent AI" with "dumb virus that's good at getting hooked up to everything and pressing buttons" and yeah, that seems more accurate to what we're seeing while causing the same problem
