The idea that Latino voters were experiencing a long-term realignment toward Trump in 2024, which was put forth by many reactionary pundits urging acquiescence to the Trump regime, turns out to be false. As some of us argued at the time, they are just very reactive to national conditions.

Why does conspiratorial thinking cluster among historically marginalized communities? #ISRNextGeneration scholar Franshelly M. Martínez-Ortiz reframes conspiratorial thinking as a historically grounded form of political reasoning rather than individual cognitive pathology. Don't miss at #APSA2026.

Conspiracy theories in U.S. politics reveal racial gaps often ignored. Using a 2024 MIMACS survey experiment, @fmortiz.bsky.social shows conspiracy beliefs are shaped by state violence awareness, and affect democratic participation. #ISRNextGeneration #MPSA2026

My thoughts are with colleagues and friends at Brown, and with their loved ones. Another day, another shooting on a college campus in this country. This kind of violence is preventable if only our leaders had the courage and moral clarity to act.

In Michigan, conspiracy thinking can be rooted in real historic harm
Conspiracy thinking may result from paranoia or misinformation -- but it's often rooted actual harms and well-earned mistrust in government.
