The Council of the Town of Parry Sound unanimously resolved to support the national call for stronger federal support for inclusive research that reflects the diversity of Canadian communities. Thank you to the Mayor and Council for discussing and supporting Canadian research!

A call to open-minded Canadians to sign this petition. What is happening in the United States MUST NOT happen here

Duplex sequencing identifies unique characteristics of ENU-induced mutations in male mouse germ cells
Abstract. Germ cell mutagenicity testing is increasingly required for chemical risk assessment. Duplex Sequencing (DS) is rapidly gaining acceptance as a m

If you are a young scientist who has never attended an EMGS meeting, you have missed a chance to discover an amazing, welcoming community of scientists who makes a point to help build careers. I owe mine to the EMGS.

Just found out that Larry Thompson passed away. He was one of the stars of the Biology program at Lawrence Livermore National Lab. His work with Chinese hamster cells led to the discovery of several DNA repair genes critical for genomic stability. Doi.org/10.1016/j.dnarep.2025.103813

The journal right now is getting about 120-140 manuscripts a year and the editorial board is quite helpful. I would say an hr a day.

Nice study out of Stephen Lloyd’s lab. Using ultra-accurate duplex sequencing, this study reveals how deficiencies in DNA repair increases aflatoxin B1-induced mutagenesis in mice. #science aacrjournals.org/mcr/article/...

The Distinct Roles of NEIL1 and XPA in Limiting Aflatoxin B1–Induced Mutagenesis in Mice
Abstract. Dietary exposure to aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is a risk factor for the development of hepatocellular carcinomas. Following metabolic activation, AFB1 reacts with guanines to form covalent DNA addu...

I had the honour to serve as Editor-in-Chief of Environmental and Molecular Mutagenesis in 2012-2016 and it is an experience that I have enjoyed and never regretted. I encourage all scientists with an interest in genomics and mutagenesis to really put your hat on the table and apply for it.

After leaving the bird, I gave Threads a chance to be my source of news about science, culture and politics. I had hopes, but it is now just Facebook with strangers. 2025 is the year I am giving Bluesky a chance.
