Same for me. I moved to Canada 15 years ago and I learned the requirement for STEM students to also take humanities courses seems to be mostly a US thing.

Yeah, it's more of a vibe than precise language usage. Its using hyperbole to say all laws don't apply, even pedophilia. After Trump was elected it became obvious how the rich aren't held accountable to anything. Insider trading, election law violations, SEC violations, campaign finance. Etc

I think people are using the term as a shorthand that the rich and powerful aren't subject to laws like the rest of us are. Not only was Epstein very wealthy, but laws and criminal activity clearly didn't apply to him for the most part. Even today his wingman Maxwell gets special treatment.
