Ooh, thanks! I don't know if I'll ever get back there. I traveled through Monte Sano in about 1974 and talked to a couple of good ol' boys harvesting "gin-sennnng" (about five syllables). Gorgeous in the morning mist. Then rented cabins in about 2012. A favorite place.

Not that long ago, we could say that LA typically hits the 60's nearly every 24 hours. Even the hottest summer nights would get down to 69 or below by 3AM, and many winter days would creep briefly past 60 by mid-afternoon. It's 90 now at 9:34 PM.

That's wonderful! A friend had a baby with a cleft palate and one imperfect hand. They told her that was often accompanied by profound retardation. He was a National Merit semifinalist, and retired from the Navy Reserve a couple of years ago. He has degrees in IT, law, and business.

My mother's side of the family emigrated from Newfoundland around 1910. I have no known relatives on that side. We made that trip looking for my grandfather's people but found only the grave of his baby brother and the brother's wife and infant.

Yes but... My refurb Dell laptop bought almost four years ago is doing fine. My Toyotas (2013 Sienna and 2017 Prius Prime) hit me with the occasional expensive repair but run great. Smaller purchases: often crap. Inflatable bed compressor failed after first use. WiFi mouse arrived dead.

It it were well-distributed, but it isn't. Worker with no savings sees no benefit. Mid-range worker with a 401(K) shouldn't increase spending pre-retirement. Wealthy person with big increase in equity: hmm, I need to diversity. Let's invest in some farmland or a distressed rental.

I would have driven my son crazy if he'd been my sole focus. My working saved us all. But I feel for my young co-worker who would have preferred to parent at home. With two college loans and her husband's law school debt, the bills forced her out the door.
