Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 18/06/2025Only just saw this. I used Love 2D. No other tools or engine elements. It’s just… code. 010
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 29/05/2024Also, nice impression of a Russian troll-bot. It’s ironic, since I’d put money on something similar starting this whole horror show. 320
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 29/05/2024What did Trump do, week one? Oh yeah. Muslim ban. Hmm. Please, tell me how someone who actually said he *will* be a dictator is the same as someone dealing with one of the worst international crises of our times involving a country the entire Middle East would nuke to oblivion given a chance. 460
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 27/05/2024My underwear after a 30 mile hike and an attack of incontinence, is a better place than the last one at this point. 120
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 27/05/2024My issue is when that narrative is bolted onto an existing game, and then everyone lauds its ‘depth and resonance’. To me, it seems exploitative, icky and disingenuous. 000
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 26/05/2024Fortunately, managed to get my doc to send through an emergency supply after only one day, so probably only experienced nocebo effects. 010
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 24/05/2024I’ve gone on holiday for 4 days! I’ve forgotten my mental health meds! This is going to be an interesting time for me and everyone around me. Yaaaaaayyyy 3120
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 24/05/2024Wow. Evil Dead Trap’s soundtrack is Vaporwave heaven. 010
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 24/05/2024I like Dagon, the Stuart Gordon movie. It’s not perfect, and it is occasionally unnecessarily cruel. But overall, it’s one of the very few half-decent *directly* Lovecraftian movies. 030
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 23/05/2024I’m not familiar with this and failing to see it on searches. 200
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 23/05/2024It’s not the ‘fuck AI’ crowd I’m confused by. It’s the ‘Ha, it’s all a scam!’ crowd that’s leaving me scratching my head. It’s very ‘all or nothing’ thinking. 100
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 22/05/2024Well isn’t that just the same as ‘therapy speak’? Everyone is ‘gaslit’ rather than merely lied to, but that doesn’t remove the existence of gaslighting as a real thing. 000
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 22/05/2024I don’t understand why so many folks are saying ‘Lol, AI is the new NFTs!’ when I’m aware of so many industries incorporating it into workflows *now*. Once it’s there they aren’t going to say ‘ha, only kidding!’ 210
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 22/05/2024Will everyone be wandering around talking to their really lifelike AI butler? Probably not (for various reasons). Will your doctor be using an AI system to help diagnose you? Almost certainly. Will the world be filled with shit AI art and novels? Yup! 110
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 22/05/2024So, AI skeptics: do you really believe that it’ll all vanish in a couple of years leaving nary a ripple? You do know there’s space between ‘nothing’ and ‘accurate, generalized AI’, right? I don’t think you have to be a ‘credulous noob’ to think things will change, permanently. 120
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 21/05/2024media.tenor.comBjork Poets GIFALT: Bjork Poets GIF 140
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 21/05/2024I thought you were saying there was a special offer on mass defenestration. 110
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 14/05/2024Oh my Lordy, I know exactly what scene that shot is from! “Smile, Lurch!” 120
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 10/05/2024It’s happened at least twice in my overall career. :-) 010
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 10/05/2024I played Moonring today. For fun. To look at a new dungeon. To feel the new vibes. An hour later I was still playing. This is a good sign. 1170
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 08/05/2024My wife is Jewish. There’s anti-Semitic graffiti outside Jewish-owned shops where we live, right near Berkeley! It’s pretty horrifying. 240
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 06/05/202425. Some of these are rather too specific, even for me. For example, I used a Koala Pad for 64 art, not a mouse. :-) 110
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 01/05/2024Favorite quote from today: (Mystery Quest) “I’ve tried nothing and I’m out of ideas!” 021
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 01/05/2024Anyway, I’ve loved videogames since 1980. Thanks to all of you mad-folk who still see it as an art-form rather than a grift. Hail. 080
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 01/05/2024Not all indies are perfect. There are clones galore. There are those chasing the previous zeitgeist. There are those who are in it purely for the imaginary money (people have to eat, you know). But if you look past all that, there are people making decisions based on passion for the medium. 160
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 01/05/2024…and now? Indies are literally the only place you can find the original spirit of videogames. The rest is a husk. With a single touch its dessicated shell collapses and becomes a thin, caustic dust. 180
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 01/05/2024…most of the folks *making* them wanted to be experimental, artistic, weird, original, novel, and - most of all - entertaining. At some point the people *making* them and those *deciding* what got made diverged. And that’s where the rot set in. 190
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 01/05/2024It’s so funny. I fell in love with videogames at a time when they were intentionally predatory amusements: arcades were, ironically, the equivalent of F2P. Nickel and diming, addiction-reliant, 100% focused on the coins-per-hour. Buuuuuut… 2111
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 30/04/2024I wonder if there’s a simple hack you can do involving a crossfade with an unstable sine? 000
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 29/04/2024Basic Low pass is easy. You literally look at the deltas of the individual samples and clamp them! It won’t produce resonance, but it’s a filter and it filters high frequencies (it was used in SFXR) 010
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 26/04/2024Longlegs is Osgood Perkins! I did not know and now it’s in my must watch list. 010
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 25/04/2024Yup. My listening tastes tend toward ‘creepy af’ and this hit the spot. BoC often sits nicely in that drawer for me, too. 010
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 25/04/2024No, the Sinister album was Aghast’s: Hexerei im Finsternis. I was more making a comment about that feeling of ‘what the hell - I thought only about 12 people ever heard this, and certainly not directors or ‘normal’ people!’ 120
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 25/04/2024Yup. Shame they never really did anything else, and one of them died in a terrorist attack in Norway a few years ago. 110
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 25/04/2024I was shocked when I watched Sinister and the entire soundtrack was from a super obscure album I’d bought back in ‘97. 110
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 24/04/2024It’s only censorship when it encourages death threats to jurors. 020
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 15/04/2024I fully ‘Tom Hanks on stretcher’ed when I got to Japan in a heatwave and eventually arrived at my hotel on foot. It’s my baseline for ‘I’m done. Fuck everything.’ 110
Fluttermind @fluttermind.bsky.social · 06/04/2024Gump was a comedy?! That honestly never occurred to me. It seemed more like this weird, surrealist thing with a strong undercurrent of pity and depression. Pretty sure I found some scenes mildly amusing but that also goes for Pulp Fiction and most other movies. 110
