They're calling it the most vindicated Bluesky thread of all time

Imagine if a new Magic set came out and it had 5 different Jace cards, it would sound absurd. But this is just normal practice when it comes to Universes Beyond - Spider-Man, ATLA, TMNT - characters just keep repeating themselves, and there's a reason it keeps happening.

The problem with a ton to UB is the fact that it keeps trying to depict a story with characters instead of a world with inhabitants. This is an issue because generally speaking, you *make* a unique story when playing, and that story exists outside of the hands of the designers.

In universe sets account for this in the worlds they create. They a fleshed out world with internal politics and interactions, and then let you play around with those pieces.

In UB, the world is already baked. The pieces were made to interact in a very specific way.

This results in a story that focuses on very few characters being stretched into a system meant to view the setting as an outside omnipresent observer. We get dozens of Turtle cards because the story they are pulling from is ABOUT the turtles, even if the game doesn't follow specific characters.

This is why UB works best when it pulls from a full expansive world instead of a linear story. If the map is large enough, the game can finally look at it from a distance and play with its elements like it was meant to.

Basically what I'm saying is just make a Caves of Qud set it's a no brainer
