Of course, it would have to be regulated rationally, and private companies of any size would need the be made into publicly held corporations. Never happen but nice fantasy.

During the bailout era, it should instead have been a buyout. Then the taxpayers would have become the sacred shareholders, so no more need to pay taxes. the public share of corporations would be 51%, with no trading of citizens shares.
