After work the other day I wanted to go on a hike, somewhere I'd never been before. Once I got there, I hiked to the overlook & got some golden hour shots from up high, but the sunset angle was all wrong. I made my way back down to the water & found a little opening only for the sky to do this.

I’ve always loved this little southern Minnesota waterfall. It just has very interesting shapes & textures. The flow wasn’t what I’d have liked to see, but unlike a nearby falls, at least it was flowing.

There’s a lot to love about city life. Entertainment, food, beautiful parks, diversity & the people. I really felt a little homesick for it when I was down there last week. There’s plenty to like out here too, but i do miss being close to the city.

Minneapolis gets all the attention both positive & negative, but Saint Paul is such a beautiful city. After we moved from the metro to north central Minnesota 6 years ago, I always got told some variation of “i bet you’re glad you got outta there” and honestly, my answer is no.

I've never been overly confident with photographing lightning, but on Friday night with a pretty decent storm coming in I grabbed the camera and headed out the door. These shots aren't perfect by any means, but they capture a dark, stormy mood that is reflective of the times we are living in.

Whenever I’m in the area, I try to make my way to this spot. Mostly because I LOVE the way the light hits when the sun clears the rim of the canyon. I’m a huge waterfall fan anyways & the way the light hits this one just awakens me.

While I was grilling the other evening I noticed some cool, wispy clouds & the skies were pretty smoke free, so I grabbed my kayak and camera. It was dead calm, warm, & NOBODY was out there. It was wonderful. I stayed on the water til it was nearly dark.

The priorities of those in power are so messed up. Megayachts, AI data/ surveillance centers, war, wealth hoarding...What really matters is right here, just outside our doors. Clean air, clean, fresh water, fertile soil to grow our food & sustain biodiversity.

Last night was a pretty great experience. I went kayaking before the latest round of storms came through & found myself surrounded by 5 loons that seemed very curious. They just let me photograph them at close range for 5-6 minutes before they moved on.
