I'm really excited to share with you my poem, "THIS IS NOT AN EPITAPH" published in the just realized issue #2 of @flowermouthpress.bsky.social  You can read the whole issue FOR FREE here: drive.google.com/file/d/1Za7OovGVkT…
The cover of flowermouth press issue 2
A grave is harder to dig from the bottom up.
Death did not take to me
kindly
a porcelain corpse
in a glass coffin.
It does not matter if I went kicking and screaming or if I was the
perfect little victim
of a life
well-lived
I did not drag myself
from the mud
and dirt
to be a beautiful cadaver
I did not crack my fingernails against the coffin lid,
retching up blood and sinew
to crawl back into the same silhouette.
I make a mosaic out of my bones, I slough off skin.
I remember I am not done yet.
I am not
done.

I wonder if it is a mercy or a curse to be perpetually incomplete,
collecting "almosts,"
dragging along the weight of "maybes" until the day I die,
crushed under the weight of impossible possibilities.
A grave is difficult to dig under the weight of earth and
expectations
and I will not write my name in stone.
