Ah thank you for saying so! I will absolutely be taking your recommendation as soon as I can stop drawing them long enough to actually read some fic.

This is basically posting the same thing twice, but I did make a version of this with a slightly reworked composition for #songxiaoseptember2025! <3 i like to imagine what a slightly different xxc mental breakdown could have looked like.

a black and white digital painting of song lan and xiao xingchen from the untamed (as depicted by li Bowen and song jiyang). song lan has the black veins + scleras indicating that he's a fierce corpse, and is holding his sword. Xiao xingchen is holding him close by the back of his head and gripping his sword arm in the other hand. the people and sword are rendered in a realistic style, but their hanfu, hair, and the dark leaf shapes framing them are more abstract. Xiao xingchen's bandaged eyes are represented by a light colored transparent shape under which you can see his eyes staring lovingly at his bf

SXX art I made before drowning in hundreds of thousands of words of fix-it fics vs SXX art I made after drowning in hundreds of thousands of words of fix-it fics

These are both sooo gorgeous! It’s continually impressive how you manage to capture a likeness with just a few lines in a face. Also it’s funny to see this given that I’ve ALSO been making angsty b&w sxx art, but have not delved into the fixit fic yet. It feels like some kind of prophecy, haha

Thank youuuu I tried. I’m on a mission to depict him getting whatever he wants because he’s my beautiful princess and it’s what he deserves.

Bonus version without magic eye surgery, for any sick freaks who want to see them just being kinda happy.

This is the same image as the one it’s a reply to, but without clouds obscuring the characters’ faces; just Xiao Xingchen cradling Song Lan amidst tall grass.

“Where do you think his eyes went”? I finished watching #theuntamed and predictably i’m still obsessed with #yicity. I gather that this is just a thing that happens to people. Hahahah. Anyway! Have some #songxiao in these trying times. <3

digital painting of Xiao xingchen and Song Lan from the untamed. They kneel in tall grass under an overcast sky, Xiao Xingchen cradling Song Lan as lucky clouds swirl from his open eyes to Song Lan's closed ones.

Thank you that’s so kind! The expressions are important to me (every time I opened it I was like “hmm, I should give Song Lan just a couple more pixels of Pain”) so it means so much that you noticed them <3

Once again you have understood me perfectly, thank youuuuu! I had to put Xingchen’s sword at the side of his own neck visually too, because I draw pictures to hurt my own feelings :’)

YESSSSS YOU SEE THE VISION I tried to make Song Lan look like he wanted to kiss Xingchen but was powerless to do so, (Xingchen not knowing to even try ofc) because that moment of nonrecognition made me die inside in the best way.

Detail shots once again because my original giant-ass file was understandably compressed

Detail of Xue Yang’s hand on Song Lan’s chest from the painting this is a reply to. He’s really splaying his fingers out and smooshing him down on the sword because Xue Yang needs to serve maximum cunt at all times. The hand is painted realistically but the glove is just a black shape because of laziness—I mean uh stylistic reasons.

Derail shot from the painting this comment is a reply to; this time of Xue Yang’s hand stroking/holding Xiao Xingchen’s face. One finger presses gently into his cheek.

Detail of the painting this comment is a reply to; this one is cropped to be just their three faces, which is maybe overkill but this way everyone can see the nuances of the like, reflected light on their nostrils or whatever, without the image compression the full painting is subject to.

Procreate crashed six or seven times when painting this one and tumblr did not like it either, but I need to spread the #xueyang babygirl agenda so here I am again. He has never done anything wrong in his life and #songlan and #xiaoxingchen are doing great too don’t even worry about it. #theuntamed

Greyscale painting of Xiao Xingchen smiling, blindfolded, as he stabs Song Lan, who is collapsing onto his chest and gazing up at him in agony/ecstasy. Xue Yang is behind them, peeking over Xiao Xingchen’s shoulder, touching Song Lan’s chest where the sword protrudes, and stroking Xiao Xingchen’s face with his other hand. The faces and hands are realism and clothes, hair, and swords are simple shapes with rougher painterly edges. The background is a dark night sky.

Predictably the quality did not survive being uploaded here either, so please observe the details of Song Lan’s tears and the hand on his face <3

A closeup of the faces from the previous post—Xue Yang is covering Song Lan’s mouth and Xiao Xingchen’s eyes and looks very pleased about it. Song Lan has a furrowed brow, bags under his eyes, and is tearing up. Xiao Xingchen looks unaware… he thinks it’s just another Tuesday

I keep forgetting I made an account here, oops. Anyway I have been watching The Untamed and it’s been rewiring my brain... #theuntamed #yicity #songxuexiao

Greyscale painting of Song Lan, Xiao Xingchen, and Xue Yang from The Untamed. SongXiao are holding their swords in a way that looks like they’re embracing, but Xue Yang is standing behind Xiao with one hand over his eyes, pulling him off balance and away from Song, and the other hand is on Song’s mouth, pushing him away from Xiao. Song looks sad, Xiao expressionless, and Xue happy. The faces and hands are painted in a realistic style but the clothing and swords are rendered much more impressionistically with big brushstrokes. They’re standing against a dark background with a big light circle behind them.
