I couldn't believe The Names by @florenceknapp.bsky.social was a debut novel; it's just so perfectly executed. I gasped, I laughed, and at one point I cried so loudly my husband looked up from across the room and said, "It's that book, huh?" Highly recommend! (TW: domestic violence)

Cora’s split-second decision regarding the name of her newborn son shifts her family's future into three different paths. Three names, three versions of a life & the infinite possibilities that a single decision can spark. @florenceknapp.bsky.social's THE NAMES is coming May 2025 geni.us/The_Names
Quote card saying: ‘Tomorrow - if morning comes, if the storm stops raging - Cora will register the name of her son.

Or perhaps, and this is her real concern, she'll formalise who he will become.’Book cover of The Names by Florence Knapp, with tagline Your Life Will Change With #TheNames

An awful photo (taken from a stepladder, with a stomach-churning fear of heights), but somehow this lone rose is still going at the end of November and miraculously survived Storm Bert where even a fence panel didn’t 💫🌸.

…I was so delighted to get to the term inwardness, but then found Joshua Rothman’s interpretation of it oddly challenging (as a chronic over thinker), so will think more in that ;) Loved your conclusion. Thank you so much for writing this series and then sharing it so generously. x

Ha yes, I totally get that :) Although am so grateful to you for taking the EM Forster route to thinking this over, as reading it felt like having my brain nicely turned insideout and made more sense of some of the things I feel instinctively…

Thank you so much - I’ve just enjoyed reading two of these and found them really thought-provoking. I wondered if the Outwardness essay is intentionally locked? I wasn’t sure if it was a technical glitch, but either way, so many thanks again for this brilliant series. x

The new bookcase is proving most enabling - it’s such a nice feeling to be able to buy things without wondering where I can wedge them in (which yes, only makes this seem more restrained 😇).
