I am a huge bookworm, I'm also an author but none are under this name (yet!). I often use exclamation marks... I think that sums me up pretty well!

Just finished The Ruling Class (prev. The Fixer) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. It's been such a long time since I've read this kind of book and this was just so good. The characters, the mystery, the red herrings. If I had to pick, my favourite character is soo Asher, he's so dramatic and fun. #booksky

I was trying to find this old draft I made maybe a year ago on Journal but I can’t find it? Has anyone else had this problem? #booksky

Both. Sometimes I just write, and sometimes I already have everything perfectly planned out. What about you?

Otherwise, I love it so much! Even Nina’s story, ignoring that subplot.

I’m nearly 50% through King of Scars and I have mixed feelings. On one hand, I LOVE Nikolai’s story! On the other, I’m not loving the emerging subplot within Nina’s. It seems super forced, and one of the chapters literally JUST made me cry. But I don’t know, it might be written really well. #booksky

I think it was the fast pace and the way everything was unclear until the final reveal. Hmm, I actually don't know! I do have some dark mystery in some of my writing but it's usually of a slower pace and a different style. Have you read 'And then there none'?

Just finished. Can't believe I've just read it! It's been on my TBR for years but I finished it in less than an hour. Wow, it's so good! So dark and it's amazing how she killed off so many people and yet it doesn't feel at all ridiculous! I NEED to read more Agatha Christie now! Recommend! #booksky
'And then there were none' by Agatha Christie book cover (2003) - that's the version I read...

Off to find King of Scars! After spending ages thinking about this and being unable to sleep, obviously.

It's also so amazing how literally everything does something to the story, whether as a red herring or Chekhov’s Gun. There's so much I want to say but to sum it all up: I loved it and it's definitely my new obsession.

- with me and I have to take a break or I don't really care about it. But in this one, it make me cry and then immediately the next thing was happening. And the ending is both so clear and so ambiguous?! I love it and I hate it. I love the character developments and the way not everything changes.

Just finished Crooked Kingdom and I have so much to say about this duology! First of all, it made me cry so much near the end, and then made me stop right when the sad bits. I'm probably not being very articulate right now but usually when a part of a book is sad, it kinda just stays - #booksky

I've got to Part Six of Crooked Kingdom and it's soooo good but for some reason, I'm putting off reading the rest. Does anyone get what I mean? Like I want to read it but I also don't... Maybe I'm just insane. #booksky

I finished Six of Crows yesterday and I'M SORRY BUT WHAT WAS THAT ENDING??? Poor Jesper (even though it was his fault) and poor Kaz. Actually, I feel sorry for everyone. I just know this is going to be my new obsession. The only problem is that I'm third in queue for Crooked Kingdom! #booksky

Just finished Demon in The Wood. I read an online version so it wasn't the graphic novel. I'm kinda considering buying it but I'm not sure yet. Ahhhhh, it just makes me so saaaad. I know that just means the author is good though. #booksky

I can’t really read it properly right now, since Shadow and Bone is still on my mind so I’m just going to spend the rest of the day not even *looking* at the book. Wish me luck! #booksky

I’m reading Six of Crows and I just love the references to Shadow and Bone! I do sometimes feel like I’m missing something - it’s probably just mystery though. Also, Leigh Bardugo’s writing and pace and everything is so different! #booksky

I’m still in a hangover from it and I *want* to read the next books but I know I’m just going to keep thinking about this series. It kind of reminded me of the Red Queen series - not in the same way Powerless did though. I’m trying not to give any spoilers… #booksky

Just finished ‘Ruin and Rising’. Oh wow. The ending made me cry and it was so bittersweet! I both love and hate the way each time I was about to smile, something tear-jerking would happen. Ahhhh, it was so good though - and very different from other quite cliche/similar books. #booksky

Just finished ‘Siege and Storm’. Wow! Leigh Bardugo’s writing is amazing! I love the way it’s just the right pace. I’m third in queue for the next one and I do not think I can wait that long! #booksky

Finished Shadow and Bone this morning. It was so good! Unfortunately, I think what I liked best might be a spoiler… Cornwall is so peaceful - perfect place to read. I need to somehow get the next one! #booksky

I read 20% of Six of Crows, then learned you should read Shadow and Bone first. IT IS SO GOOD! It’s actually been a while since I’ve had a chance to read and this is such a nice one! I just hope it won’t be too dark… #booksky

She eventually got let on, but I feel so bad that I didn’t say anything to her. I really wish I had now… Sorry for the gloomy story!

Ugh, this really ruined my mood. A teenage girl got on the bus and her Zip card wasn’t working, and the driver just started *shouting* at her. Usually the drivers are really nice, so it was horrible to watch. She was clearly struggling not to cry and was still trying to be polite.

Had an indie bookstore say yes to stocking my debut novel! I’m soooo excited!!! (and nervous) They’re gonna do a nice display for it and everything. This feels like a big opportunity for this little author. 🙂 #Booksky

I'm not a big fan of love triangles but now I love the one in this book. The Gale and Peeta symbolisms, the PTSD is written so well... I don't want to spoil it by saying more though... #booksky

I was just about to sleep when I started thinking and began to appreciate the symbolism, etc in Hunger Games so much. I tried telling my parents but I do not think they have any idea what I'm saying lol.

I don't usually abandon books though, and I can't help but feel odd about it. Has anyone read it? Is it very dark? #booksky

I went to the library today and got out 'The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes' by Suzanne Collins. I'm only on Chapter 6 but I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't read this one. I feel like it'll be very dark and Mockingjay has already made me feel a bit... off.

Flora Night @floranight.bsky.social · 18/05/2026
EXACTLY! My friend presented them to me as a romance, which instantly made me not want to read it. I was NOT expecting it to be at all as dark as it was though.

*I wouldn't recommend to people who read fun or light books.* Writing this is what made me realise I actually liked it so I've got the next book on reserve and I just know it's going to be so sad! #booksky

I especially loved that all characters had their flaws and qualities and though it made me a bit upset, the way everything didn't turn out quite perfect was also really well-written. I WANT TO SAY SO MUCH MORE ABOUT THESE BOOKS BUT I CAN'T WITHOUT SPOILERS.

Just finished the hunger games by Suzanne Collins. I have a bit to say about this but I need to dry my tears first... It was... not a bad book at all! But it was quite distressing, I suppose. It made me cry at two points but even then, not that much. The writing and characters were really good.

Finished A Curse for True Love by Stephenie Garber yesterday. It was soo good, but it was just a bit unsatisfying. There were quite a lot of plot threads, and it didn't really feel like the last book. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed the series! On my way to find all the bonus content I can... #booksky

Just finished 'A ballad of never after' by Stephenie Garber. It was SO good but it left me feeling so sad and I still don't have the next book... The tragic backstories are AMAZING and I love how none of the characters are entirely evil or entirely blameless. #booksky
