I was going to go offline until 2027 because social media has been too difficult. How am I going to be better if I don’t practice though?

Birds from last year. Ana’s are my favorite desert animals, next to bobcats and javelinas. I once saw a male’s ruby throat up close as he chastised me for being late with the feeder. I’ll never forget the way he shimmered in the rising sun, like a gem. 🪶🎨

A setup of art supplies, like ink and brushes, with three paintings of hummingbirds in the center.

A hummingbird flying with wings spread wide.

I’m finding art I made while I was dying from insomnia. It’s very colorful, full of texture, and rough. It’s also comprised of many layers, feeling heavy like the tiredness. 2025 - Mixed media #art #mixedmediaart (If you can help it, get good sleep. Your heart will thank you.)

Closeup portrait of a woman’s eye and nose surrounded by collaged butterfly and flower illustrations and actual dried flowers. Some words and written throughout the collage. Visible writing speaks of “stress” and alludes to a sour relationship with the line “my love was the most grace I could…” ending in the bottom corner

Closeup of her eye, yellow flower pasted in her iris, and various collage papers layered on one another.

This was a part of my first illustration portfolio, right after graduation. It’s interesting to look at now considering that my art career led to the creation of much more detailed art in the fantasy genre.

Illustration of two standing feet, cut and punctured by small thorns belonging to the crushed rose plants on the floor.

Hi #kidlitartpostcard! I'm Sayada, and I love drawing fun magical scenes, animals, food and more. Experienced in picture books, but I would love to tackle middle grade soon! Rep'd by @sarahbrewyard.bsky.social at the Bright Agency. sayadaramdial.com

digital illustration of a group of fairy children among flowering strawberry plants and some brown mushrooms. One fairy wearing a leafy outfit, stands on a strawberry leaf higher up and looks for the other kids, who are hiding, one holding up a finger to his mouth to signal "be quiet". They all have green skin and blue hair, and sparkly insect-like wings can be seen on the backs of two of them. Hand lettered text reads 'sayada ramdial' with sparkles drawn into the letters above the illustration, and below it reads 'Rep'd by The Bright Agency. sayadaramdial.com'

🧶 The gradient gave me some trouble, but I managed to make it work. The yarn is four unplied strands, with the gradient achieved through ending a strand of color and adding a new one. The color changes don’t happen perfectly, so I had to arrange the strands myself at certain points.

In progress - A wide, triangular, open-stitched crochet shawl made in a light to dark gradient, and draped over a couch.

I have seen some stunning sunrises/sunsets in the past month. Bright orange, to vivid pink, to cool purple, and soft blue mountains in the distance. No pics because I’m always busy looking. Besides, there is not a phone camera on this earth that can capture such a sky.

I don’t care how smart you are with the parlay. Gambling isn’t impossible to win at, but it’s rare. Once you make a bet, that money is gone and so is your control. If you have $20 and make a $20 bet, that means you have $0. No such thing as “potential bucks.”

I had a quarter of an HB pencil, half of a 2B, and a 6B nub. I also ran out of seven different watercolor tubes, every type of eraser I use, and almost all of my drawing paper. Luckily I got a gift card for my birthday and was able to replenish a lot of it.

At the beginning of the year, I angrily told myself that I’m a jackass because I never use my art supplies. So when I started making art again, I realized that I have very few supplies, because I actually did use them. I’m just mean to myself for no reason.

I used to be so good with artist statements and project descriptions, and now it’s such a struggle. The use of concise, descriptive language about art that I can’t articulate verbally (yet) is a skill that I hope to develop as time passes.

The lifecycle of flowers has always enchanted me. Beautiful until the end.

A small bundle of small, wilting flowers hanging from their stems. The many petals of each flower droop outward from their large, round centers.
