Watched a great documentary on Michael Tilson Thomas. He describes a concert @ BSO featuring Reich's "Four Organs" where a riot nearly broke out. I live for these sorts of stories, even if a bit inflated. Pete and I used to go to the 'new music' concerts before MTT took over SFSO. So much fun.

Extra alt.hostory, IIRC they REd it so they could make a chess font? A great friend of mine, John Renner, made a Metafont called Cheq Pi and associated package TeXTile. When he started at Adobe in the mid-late 80s, he turned into a PostScript font, and was responsible for the IPA font for Stone.

I think, based on the date I got it, it was part of my FORTRAN 77 course or PL/I. I was using C at the time on another project and pretty much abandons both + the Pascal I was using to program the Mac shortly after. At the same time, LISP and the Symbolocs was calling like a siren…

Somehow, complaining about #academia resulted in several OnlyFans-based bsky followers. I think the explanation is: "Look - while academia can be frustrating, I understand your pain. I was a student once. How about boobies‽"
