30 yrs ago, my Trekkie status was solidified as 10 yr old me watched Captain Kathryn Janeway & her intrepid crew set off on their journey home. Star Trek: Voyager will always hold a special place in my heart. Every character taught me something & I love them all! Happy Birthday Voyager! 🖖🏻💙🖖🏻

Finally had time to continue reading “Open a Channel” today! I got into the Enterprise and Discovery chapters. I continue to be impressed with Nana Visitor as a storyteller and interviewer. I’ve been moved emotionally so many times during this first reading. So good!!

I’m watching DS9s “The Visitor”. Such a heartbreaking episode. I often wonder what conversations I’d have with my mom if I could, I lost her when I wasn’t much older than Jake. I do so wish that I could share with her my art and who I’ve become. I think she’d get a kick out of Flippe.

I know good Trek, because it leaves me in tears. Trek’s themes on the strength of friendship and chosen family have always been so impactful to me and this week’s episode of Lower Decks really drives that point home. I’m literally in tears after that episode. So many feels. 🖖🏻

I love the array of female friendship shown throughout Trek, but watching “Blood Oath” def adds a new dimension. TNG gave us Bev & Deanna doing corridor stretches and having “boy crazy” girl talk. DS9 is serving Kira & Dax discussing murdering men. You know. Just girl stuff.

Revisiting Picard & decided to put on a s3 ep. “No Win Scenario”. I love the B plot of Seven hunting for changelings. What I’d forgotten was Picard’s speech about holding steadfast to your crew especially in dark times. Of all the things Trek teaches, this is so important right now. Thank you JL.

With everything going on I’m realizing 1 thing that would help. Being able to watch Jeri Ryan & Michelle Hurd lead a new era of Trek, boldly going, bringing inspiration & hope to so many as they carry the legacy aboard the Enterprise-G. This isn’t just a series that is wanted, it is also NEEDED.

Actresses Michelle Hurd & Jeri Ryan are shown portraying Commander Raffi Musikeer & Captain Seven of Nine on the bridge set of the Enterprise G during filming for Star Trek Picard’s series finale. Seven is seated in the captain’s chair looking forward as Raffi glances at her awaiting her orders.

Jessie @jessiegender.bsky.social has some words you should hear. I would add this: that your loved ones are your crew. The flag you fly should only ever be your own. Grieve for those we will lose, then get back in the fight. Your nationality never defined you. Let no one define you.
