#SciArtSeptember Day 5 is 'Saffron' and in german there is a very old children's song that has a line about saffron making the cake yellow. My grandma sang it a lot with me as a child, so I always think of cake when I hear 'saffron' #watercolour #traditionalart #art

#SciArtSeptember Found another interesting fact for 'violet': Did you know that some pigments, adhesives and varnishes show fluorescence under ultraviolet light? Pictures are taken by myself. The map is a colourized copper engraving, possibly 17./18. c. The third is part of a family tree from 1781.

Old map of the north-western part of Spain-Portugal. Some parts are colourized in pink and yellow, some appear dark brown. The brown ones are corroded copper greens.

Backside of the map in 1. It shows some of the lines from the front because they were coloured with a copper based colour that corroded over time. There are also some fluorescenting lines which are probably caused by some kind of adhesive
