I know some people in the Space force, and while this will probably never happen, they aren't going to hear the end of it from me if it does.

An image showing a post from Donald Trump with an AI generated concept of new US Space Force dress uniform design on the left and an officer of the Galactic Empire from Star Wars on the right. The uniforms have a number of similarities in color and cut of the jacket, belt, hat, and boots.

At least they skipped the jodhpurs.

A picture of an Imperial officer from Star Wars in uniform. The uniform is gray with a tight fitting coat, wide belt with shiny metal buckle, wide jodhpurs, and shiny black boots and gloves. It is quite fashy.

If you're not one of the main characters Hometown seems nice enough. Just pray the year is up before the apocalypse of darkness hits and it's easy money.

Just out of curiosity I went to check out the APHIS website the other day and I noticed this was front and center:

A screenshot of the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service of the USDA. The hero image at the top of the page shows a group of smiling people around a conference table, overlayed with text reading "Find your future with us, We are posting new vacancies every week!" and an action button to view open job postings at the agency.

I mean, tone down the nose and you're not wrong.

Schmendrick the Magician from the 1982 animated adaptation of Peter S. Beagle's "The Last Unicorn". He's a gangly man with a big nose in tattered blue robes and a wizard's pointy hat made entirely of patches crudely sewn together. He's carrying a brown satchel.

I extracted the video because despite the lessons of recent years, a lot of people still don't understand this. Fire can move at least as fast as the wind is blowing. If the wind is blowing fast enough that you think "wow, it's really windy" do not dither, get the kids, get the pets, get out.

I'd go for this one, both for personal reasons and because I'll enjoy the media asking questions about it's contents and what they mean for my administration that I will refuse to answer.

Ah yes, the idyllic days of wholesome, handcrafted Surge Cola.

On the right a can of the discontinued 1990's citrus cola "Surge". It is a lurid bright green with a red splat behind the black letters that spell "Surge". On the left is a glass with a serving of the soda in it. It is roughly the same color as the can.

Sort of weirdly annoyed how relevant Star Wars, the fluffy, space fantasy series from my childhood, remains to present experiences. Although the danger was visible. People just didn't want to see.

An excerpt from the prologue of the 1977 novelization of Star Wars: A New Hope.

"Once, under the wise rule of the Senate and the protection of the Jedi Knights, the Republic throve and grew. But as often happens when wealth and power pass byond the admirable and attain the awesome, then appear those evil ones who have greed to match.

So it was with the Republic at its height. Like the greatest of trees, able to withstand any external attack, the Republic rotted from within though the danger was not visible from outside."

Even in a fully gravity fed system designed with wildfire in mind, it can be hard to defend critical water infrastructure from the speed and fury of these wind driven fires. If mud fills your intake or the fire compromises your tank before there's time to react it can be game over before it's begun.
