I think it says something that due to how rare cheap tricks like planned jumpscares are, the rare few times they actually do pull those out are incredibly effective. The midwife early in Hydroponics still gets me every time

I think this game, despite its jank and dated mechanics (which the remaster does not fix all of, which is good actually), gets a lot right about horror that modern games should take notes from. Every location finds some way to give me the creeps without fail

Basic thoughts so far are I do think the original version is the best way to play still but if you're a newcomer you aren't doing yourself necessarily a disservice playing this version either I do want to try the multiplayer but I hear it's pretty janky sadly

I do prefer wired, but I also like using headphones with my phone and they stopped putting 3.5mm jacks in Samsung phones for some reason It is unfortunately pretty much compulsory with that in mind
