My husband is a teacher, he’s happy with the phone ban because the kids have £1000 phones and he does not want the responsibility of handling that - he has enough to do! Frees up his time to do *teaching*

Govts have been doing this, science even often has the question of what boxes can I put these things into, and the complexity of humanity/nature/the universe gets lost in the quest to understand it. We should still ask questions, but I think there are many who aren’t prepared for a complex answer2/2

I think she, like a lot of people really, desperately wants the world to be simple to understand - so imposes binary, and the patriarchy, onto it in order to make it “feel right”. It’s easy to see in her books, people fit into 4 houses, that’s it. And this isn’t new, religion has been doing this 1/2

I really hate the “it’s just common sense” rhetoric but this one feels like… common sense. Stay away from other people to reduce spread. Giving people a number helps self/social policing (the SIDE EYE if you step off your floor sticker too soon omg)

I was at school in the 90s/00s and even though I was bullied, I still remember a pinnacle of society was tolerance, that was the message from school/govt. And it makes sense right because the opposite it bullying, and you wouldn’t advocate bullying right? But it seems to have evaporated

I had Covid Original in March 2020 and it hospitalised my mid thirties husband who then while in hospital got stuck on a ward with other people who basically drowned. It was nothing like the nasty flu going around in winter 2019!
