It's a...bit much coming from someone who has never experienced the a) embarassment, b) stains on clothing, or c) the cramps. All of which are on vivid display in Carrie. I don't dislike the character per se, but I think she would have been better handled by someone who *knows.*

Yeah, I meant it wasn't enough for me to go on a *murder spree.* Like, PCOS and Endometriosis aren't even uncommon. What gets me about Carrie is that her bullies latch on to her monthlies and intentionally use the pig's blood to reference it. And then she's killed via a violent, bloody stabbing.

You've got some good options, but I've gotta chime in with the gay witch dads. It's obligatory. The sheer amount of cloth Shirahama draws these characters in could provide a nice challenge. And skirts make for easy access ;)

There's always fire, but then they'd get written off as a business expense. Making them useless (and ABSOLUTE money pits) is more...elegant somehow.

My mom, on the other hand, told me getting blackout drunk was the only thing that dealt with her levels of period pain. (Until she yeeted her uterus in her 30s.) So at least *someone* believed me. She was just. Three thousand. Miles. Away. Fun fact, I also later yeeted my uterus in my 30s 🙂

Also a fun final jab about how Carrie being conceived in the first place was "sinful" from her own mother (a feat only possible via the female reproductive system working as intended—which involves periods.) The WHOLE THING can be read as an allegory to a gd normal bodily function being traumatic.

It's *that* that causes her to snap completely and go on a murder spree throughout town on her way to off her mom because a) Mom deserves it and b) in for a penny, in for a pound, I guess. The way she dies involves, you guessed it—more blood!

That being said, she did not mean to murder her classmates. She just wanted to drench them with the sprinkler system. (Kinder than what they did to her). Faulty wiring sparks and electrocutes some students before starting the fire and explosion that kills pm the rest of everyone who was there.

Carrie does w/e regardless of how "sinful" it is because she KNOWS her mom is wrong. But she does not appreciate being humiliated. The idea for the prank's drenching her in *blood* came from Carrie freaking out over her period at school—and being covered in it flipped her nice guy switch off.

After that, she goes home to fight with momma (like wtf y didn't you prepare me??) and gets locked in a closet because the period clearly only came as a sign of Carrie's "sin." Her mom was CooCoo for Coco Puffs fr. Carrie doesn't seem to internalize the "sin" stuff, but does resent being punished.

The home abuse and constant peer bullying contributed. But the period thing was a huge factor. She didn't know what was happening when she got hers (she thought she was dying) and unfortunately for her, this happened at school, so everyone involved in the prank-that-goes-too-far *knows.*

And write about them! A dude wrote the source material about a girl traumatized by...[checks notes] menstrual blood. Like. I had 8-day periods, endometriosis, pain enough to *throw up* regularly, and supreme annoyance at my peers. Did I murder them at homecoming dance? Heck no. I just *didn't go.*
