Hey #ElixirLang folks! I just opened a PR suggesting an exception to Credo’s single-pipe check, and would love some feedback! github.com/rrrene/credo... This is an opinionated check, so any feedback is appreciated!

feat: add allow_maps_and_lists param to single pipe check by flavioescobar · Pull Request #1284 · rrrene/credo
Add a new param to Credo.Check.Readability.SinglePipe - :allow_maps_and_lists. This param makes the check not raise issues on single pipes when the first element of the pipeline is a map, struct, o...

The importance of tests goes beyond your own code. Last week I upgraded all mix deps and when I ran my tests, I found that some auth UIs broke. I later found that AshAuthentication introduced a bug to the magic link flow. Fortunately my tests caught that and I didn’t push the bug live. #ElixirLang

Another day, another time I had to search hexdocs for how to use Enum.reduce/3. For some reason I can’t memorize the params order for this function 😅 #ElixirLang

I’m an infra noob as well, lol. I’m just looking for an easy-to-use hosting service during the development phase of my app. But for prod I’ll likely use AWS.

OK, I’ve tried both Fly.io and Gigalixir. Between the two, I think Fly.io is a bit better because it’s easier to use. But man… they made it really hard to use what they call “unmanaged” Postgres. It’s really annoying! They’re trying to force everyone into paying for managed Postgres. #ElixirLang

@gigalixir.com Just wanted to let you know that I tried to sign up and got this error. I’m _not_ using VPN. It looks like your system thinks that Starlink is a VPN.

Hrmmm… this is not starting well. I’m _not_ using a VPN but Gigalixir insists I am.

Thanks @bobbby.online! I’ll look into gigalixir then. I think AWS or GCP would be too much for me to handle by myself in the short term. My friend is not a developer; he’s on the biz side. If the business grows in a way that gigalixir becomes too expensive, I think that’s a nice problem to have :)

It’s work. It’s a new idea I’m building with a friend. No real users yet. We’re hoping to launch our MVP in ~3 months. The user base will likely be small, but the system will handle a large amount of data and be quite heavy on Oban workers.

Hey #ElixirLang friends! Can I get some recommendations on good hosting providers for Elixir / @ash-hq.org applications? I’m currently using Fly.io during the dev phase, but I’d like to explore other options for production. Note: I’m not experienced in DevOps, so I’d prefer managed hosting.

Made a small contribution to the OS community. This time to Expert, the official lang server for #ElixirLang. As I was following the installation guide, I noticed a dependency that was not mentioned in the prerequisites. I opened an issue and after some discussion, opened a PR that was just merged.

What if you just mentioned that in the Job Lifecycle page? IMO a callout section saying that any non-finished job can be cancelled would be enough.

Flavio Escobar @flavioescobar.bsky.social · 26/04/2025
I was reading through this and a question came up: can we cancel jobs that are scheduled, available and retryable? I’d expect so, but looking at the documentation and the diagram in it, it seems only executing jobs can be cancelled.

In my case, I need to add the errors back to a column in a result CSV that users can download and inspect themselves. The number of rows in the input CSV can be pretty large, so I think it’s easier for users to download back a result CSV and look at the results for each row.

No. I’m actually using AshGraphql.

I’m building a function to parse a CSV and insert records in the DB, giving back a CSV indicating which rows were successfully processed vs not. The @ash-hq.org has a few different error modules, so this is what I’m trying to do to parse the most common errors. Is there a better way? #ElixirLang

Expanding a little bit on my previous tip for speeding up tests: the config you’ll need to use depends on which hashing library you’re using in your project. Add one of these to your `config/test.exs` based on the hex pkg you have in your mix.exs. #ElixirLang
