hrm i LOVE the look of the gradient but as a fellow artist im concerned for ur wellbeing if u have to colour that every single time you draw him

my art feels a bit like a stranger right now, I’m not certain of the direction I want to take it in, but I’m so excited to discover it

020

VEX !! 👻💚⛓️ Θ Δ @flatwoodsdaemon.bsky.social · 17/04/2025

it’s been hard to know what my art looks like traditionally - it’s in a weird space between cartoon and anime so there’s not really a good comparison for what my sketches should look like, but sketchbooking has been helping my work so much that now I’m addicted to it

if it was easy to achieve and maintain I’d absolutely dye the underside of my hair white. my goal in life generally is to look like a fusion of danny phantom and rin okumura

tumblr users love to portray that site as unabashedly weird and inclusive etc etc, like "the last good social media", which might be true unless you're black or a trans woman, and especially not if you're both. tumblr is intensely transmisogynistic in a way i haven't witnessed on any other site

i really think people who were failed by the system and left behind in special/slower classes that kinda abused them need a voice and I honestly wish people who were once gifted kids stop trying to be apart of the conversation.

i've never felt my heart sink more, i was hoping this guy would be genuinely interested in animation and he had some show idea that he wanted to ramble to someone about, only to find out that he was talking about making animation with AI and didn't even have any story ideas.. such a bummer.

VEX !! 👻💚⛓️ Θ Δ @flatwoodsdaemon.bsky.social · 22/03/2025

just a awe-inspiring lack of knowledge about the medium he had "ideas" for, at one point i had to pull out my tablet to show him how drawing layers worked since the idea of character animation and backgrounds being made seperately was for some reason really confusing him.

1210

VEX !! 👻💚⛓️ Θ Δ @flatwoodsdaemon.bsky.social · 22/03/2025

it was myself, an intern, and one of the studios execs painstakingly outlining the entire animation pipeline and trying to emphasise to him that his idea of producing animation with AI just wouldn't be feasible right now, as he seemed just shocked and baffled at how many steps there were.

1210

VEX !! 👻💚⛓️ Θ Δ @flatwoodsdaemon.bsky.social · 22/03/2025

met one at a works drinks the other day, after he had mentioned wanting to talk to the animation team because he "had an idea" (using AI to make animation) - and i ended up having to explain to him the difference between 2D animation and 3D animation.

if ur limiting ur understanding of a pokemon to "thing that could be my pet irl" , you're misunderstanding the entire design ethos.

030

VEX !! 👻💚⛓️ Θ Δ @flatwoodsdaemon.bsky.social · 15/03/2025

its pocket monsters, not pocket animals. "this guy looks like he pays taxes", yeah, and so do werewolves, they're monsters. pokemon look so different across the board bc they're monsters, they're often based on mythological legend

141

VEX !! 👻💚⛓️ Θ Δ @flatwoodsdaemon.bsky.social · 15/03/2025

i feel like a lot of people's arguments abt pokemon design get dismantled when you remember that they're monsters, not animals

posting this venti i did as a study from a while back - originally it was going to be a more involved print, but i ended up just using it as a way to study the shading style used in some of genshin's promo images. he's cute tho, i like how this turned out
