found some more old art, this is from 2017. i made postcards to sell at gamefest that year, but they weren't very popular. i don't understand why. is this not the crossover everyone has been begging for??

we planted our halloween pumpkins, and alot of them came up! i'd never grown them before, they're really neat plants. how it started, etc.

i wasn't sure if the lollypop sticks would work out, so i left most of the pipes pretty plain. here's a few of the fancier ones. the glaze on the one with stripes is hard to see, it's a nifty green-brown. i'll try to get a better shot of it later but you might have to just believe me.

three porcelain pipes on a metal turn-table in some grass. one has green and brown glaze between unglazed stripes. the glaze on another is a smooth gradient from light blue through dark blue to black, and has white unglazed square shapes floating upward from the bowl, which is light blue inside. the third is all smooth white porcelain except an oval shape where rust colored scales or ridges are exposed.

in the past i made pipes by forming the stems around the handle of small paintbrushes, but i recently picked up a bunch of lollypop sticks to use instead. @yambam.bsky.social suggested i make a little melty snack to stick one in, and this is the result. i chipped it a little drilling out the hole =(

unloaded the kiln this past weekend, but it took til now to finally get a few halfway decent pics of the stuff.. i'd forgotten how difficult it is to photograph a bunch of little white cylinders in a way that looks at all like anything. they're more fun in person.

kiln's doing its thing. it's basically impossible to photograph, but the glowing heat from the peephole looks awesome at night.

had to wait awhile for all my ancient little tubs of glaze to rehydrate, but stuff is finally ready to fire again. i'd post pics but my shitass phone is dying, so here's some old stuff instead. it's all from over 10 years ago, i can't believe how old i am (not strictly relevant)

a sequence of 4 photos showing stages of creating a porcelain snifit. in the first it is mostly featureless and still wet. the second is bonedry but unfired, and details have been carved in the robe, goggles, mask, etc. third stage is fired once, glazed with black glaze and stained with iron oxide. number 4 is the final product.

after 7 hours heating up to over 1800F and another 15 hours to cool back down to 100, they don't look much different, but they're ready to glaze. 24 one-hitters, 4 bent pipes, 2 tobacco pipes i made as an experiment, and one little doodle that'll look more like something once it's glazed.

finally cleaned the garage enough to fire the kiln without burning my house down, gonna have some new pipes to glaze soon. nice to be working in clay again, it's been... *checks kiln log* 8 YEARS?? shit.

oh, i forgot to post the comic my profile pic's from. drew this years ago when my hair was short for awhile. i still dunno what the punchline's supposed to mean, seemed funny at the time. it was fun playing with halftone in clip studio.

a four-panel comic in black and white. first panel just shows a bathroom, with notes calling out the electrical outlet by the sink, and a space-heater plugged in and pointing at the toilet. it was winter when i drew this.
second panel, i come into the bathroom and immediately trip over the space-heater's cord.
third panel, a view from above as i lay face down, half in the bathtub, a streak of dark liquid running down the tile wall. the cord is now tangled around one of my feet.
fourth panel, a peaceful scene of nature with hills in the background. nearby a tree stands with a fresh grave underneath. the tombstone reads, "RIP he died the way he lived." i dunno what that means exactly, but any answer seems fairly funny. also, i prefer 'they' over 'he' these days, but it's whatever.

speaking of learning clip studio, here's some 3 panel strips i did to figure out how csp handles that sort of thing. originally conceived as a look at zelda enemies when link's not around, it turned into an excuse to practice drawing backgrounds while a little slime guy traveled around aimlessly.
