Is penny bun the friendliest looking mushroom? 🍄📷 #FungiFriends

A penny bun mushroom on the forest floor, viewed from a low angle. Its thick cap and bulbous stem suggest the proportions of a cuddly toy.

Here's one of the best trees. It's old and on its way out, but still looks imposing and gives a home to a steady stream of polypore babies.

The limbless trunk of a birch tree, dark against a blue sky and surrounded by the sunlit foliage of of other much healthier trees. A polypore fungus is prominent towards the bottom of the frame.

Found these two lurking in a field while we were out apple-scrumping. Is there anything else which one can scrump? You wouldn't scrump a car. Anyway, they were delicious. The apples. 🍄📷 #FungiFriends

Birch polypores are so good looking. Here's a new one growing from one of my favourite trees. 🍄📷 #FungiFriends

Ja, beklager. Ta imot denne ektefølte kua som koser seg med å ikke møte noen matadorer.

An Aberdeen Angus cow in a paddock. It may be looking straight at the camera but its long shaggy hair completely covers its eyes. A single dandelion leaf juts from the side of its mouth.

The Three Grazers were not impressed, but I think this'll do for #HotStickSaturday

Went to an art. Here's something for #FungiFriends 🍄📷

Detail from an installation by Zhana Fritsch. Oyster mushrooms grow from a mass of what may be paper pulp, raised on spindly wire legs. They lean to the left like trees in a strong wind.

Adams and O'Neil are favourites of mine. Here's a reprint of a couple of their 70's classics. A dense, two-page essay by Dennis O'Neil at the start. #TopShelfFriday

Neal Adams cover of Green Lantern/Green Arrow comic no. 1 from 1983, reprinting Green Lantern 76-77 from 1970. Hal and Ollie each have a fistful of the other's shirt.

The cover of Superman #41 (1990). It is divided into four panels, showing: one lumpy alien menacing another, Superman in flight over a snowy landscape, Jimmy Olsen falling down a hill and Bibbo breaking a chair over Lobo's head.

The football team from my home town is Odds Ballklubb, usually just called Odd. In a nice touch, the streets around the stadium have manhole covers with the club logo. #Odd #BlueSkyArtShow #HeiaOdd

Today is 125 years since Carl Barks was born. One of my favourite stories, and one of his most ludicrous plots, is The Many Faces of Magica de Spell (1964). It's a teetering, touch-and-go tower of absurdity. #TopShelfFriday

A Norwegian hardcover album collecting eight Donald Duck stories by Carl Barks.

Four panels from a Donald Duck comic. The witch Magica de Spell sprays her raven familiar with a potion that causes his face to transform into that of the last creature he sees; first Magica, then her cat.
