Two years ago today, I released Hannah and Gregory, my self-pub debut! It started life as just 1 of 13 stories in an indie horror anthology. The seasonal anthology is no longer in print, so I expanded my story and tuned it up, and gave it a second life. Reviews have been kind.

#FantasyIndiesSeptember day 30: Monthly wrap up I wasn't active most of the month (or the past, like, four), but I'm slowly returning! Next month will be a big one. Two book anniversaries and one new release! I never intended to be a Halloween writer, but the life seems to have chosen me.

81. Shroom and Gloom It's still in early access and will receive more content, but I'm kinda done with it in its current state. It's pretty fun for a few hours, but doesn't have enough new to discover after the first playthrough (at least yet). Plus it has a number of irksome bugs/wrong card text.

#FantasyIndiesSeptember day 29: Are you/MC introvert, extrovert, or ambivert? I'm SUPER introverted, and most of my characters end up so, too. I need to make a conscious effort to write extroverted characters because otherwise I don't notice. My brain struggles to even realize it's possible.

#FantasyIndiesSeptember day 28: Thoughts on DNFing books? I generally try not to so I can at least say I've done it/understand something I've seen referenced before, but ultimately life's too short to force yourself to do things you don't want. Society already makes you do enough of that.

80. The Blob It's decent. I wish I liked it more than I did. There is a lot to appreciate here and special effects that are interesting for the time. But I thought the pacing was just horrible, and none of the characters did much for me.

79. The House in the Cerulean Sea It has themes I appreciate, but they're super surface level. The characters are thin and randomly change personality to suit what the scene needs. MC is insufferable. A lot of cringe/corny dialogue the author clearly thought were gotcha sick burn mic drop moments.

78. The Hills Have Eyes (2006) Most of it is very good! Intense, with good characters and disturbing scenes. It loses a lot of steam as it goes on but regains a measure of it by the end. It has a handful of horror-move-isms (hope you get what I mean) that had me rolling my eyes, but overall good!

77. Ready or Not 2 Significantly worse than the first. I appreciate the creative vision for the expanded lore and the character dynamics but feel most of it either falls flat and/or feels forced/try-hardy. Still a good bit of fun to be had with a few decent humorous beats. An okay movie.

74. Dear Zachary This is probably the single most painful piece of media I've ever seen. I watched it late last night, which was a horrible mistake because I couldn't sleep afterward. It feels like I'm physically grieving, this following day. Absolutely recommend, though. Powerful, haunting, human.

73. Airplane! Yeah, I dunno, it's okay I suppose. There ARE a number of good gaffs, but mostly it felt like they were just making the same like 4 jokes over and over and over. Plus I wouldn't have minded the movie being 20-30 minutes shorter. I was just bored for the last third or so.

72. Dragon Ball Z Manga Toriyama is a legend for a reason. His paneling is phenomenal and lets the action jump off the page. Perhaps less famous is his incredible ability to convey so much through facial expressions. A little surreal to be here, being a fan of the anime longer than I can remember.

I did one final read-through of The Town that Banished Death before I begin the publication process, and yep, it made me cry. Every time I've read this story, I've gotten teary-eyed. I find myself humbled at the beautiful story I've created. Upwards and onwards.

71. Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars A very charming game with surprisingly decent characters/story given how simple it starts. The gameplay is also charming but get stale quickly, and ditto with dungeons. Not enough innovation. Not a very long game but got old a couple hours before I finished

70. Night's Master - DNF Normally if I make it this far I'll power through, but ~80% in, and I'm bored to death. I don't think it's objectively bad but just do not care about anything that's happening. It has a neat structure - like 3 novellas centered around Azhrarn's revolving door of sex crimes

69. Little Goody Two Shoes Love it! A game about avoiding being killed by a town accusing you of witchcraft, while finding time to pursue sapphic romances and fulfill your pact with a supernatural and probably demonic entity. It's *very* rough and sometimes tedious, but I love it anyway.

68. Overboard! A very charming, stylish game that's quite dense with things to discover. Butterfly-effect-restarts and super specific time-windows for opportunities make it a satisfying, if sometimes mildly frustrating, puzzle to solve.

67. Masters of the Universe (2026) SUCH a fun movie. Sword and sorcery sci-fantasy with super colorful set pieces and that is constantly switching between earnest story telling and comedy. It probably doesn't do anything you haven't seen before, but it's just so much fun it doesn't matter.

66. Thrifting for Evil A bloody, chaotic, messy whirlwind of a story. A sentient and evil cat-skull doll thing, and the revolving door of corpses that follows its arrival, plus a panicky, babbling, terrified mess of a narrator.

I had a dizzy spell. It only lasted a little while, but it still scared me a lot. I had an awful, extremely long dizzy spell a couple years ago that was the worse physical sensation I've ever had, and ever since, any time I get dizzy or nauseous it freaks me out.

65. A natural History of Dragons: A Memoir by Lady Trent A very charming story. Very grounded No fantastical elements except dragons. It's very similar to Saxon Stories (The Last Kingdom) but following a scholarly aristocratic woman rather than a warrior man. Travel, various cultures/languages...

64. Titanic Hard to capture my feelings in such a small space. I wish I could have come out on a higher note. Parts are beautiful and brilliant, but parts are extremely frustrating. It tries WAY too hard sometimes and ends up feeling cartoonish as a result. Plus the end is embarrassingly sappy.

63. Hush One of those movies where I love ~90% of it and HATE the other ~10%. If I could go in and hard cut a couple scenes, it'd be perfect. Fortunately those few minutes happen consecutively about 70% through, so before and after that, the movie built and then re-built good will with me.
