ACLU, VOTE, and similar orgs are ever present to oppose even the slightest bills that hold criminals accountable. But it's not unusual for the Louisiana Conference of Catholic Bishops to join them. Rep. Villio asked Director Costanza about how he decides where to focus his advocacy. #lalege #nolasky

"Such a prolific clip is unusual for a state attorney general." 👏 Thank you, AG Murrill! Corruption among the political class in New Orleans has been holding us back for so long. We can't rely solely on the feds. AG prosecutions are crucial to help fix what's broken here. #nolasky

"We are in no way 'criminalizing homelessness.' We are saying you simply can't sleep where you want to sleep in public... If you're not going to sleep in a shelter, then you can only camp in a designated place." 👏 Rep. Villio. Every New Orleans leader should be for this. #lalege #nolasky

👏 Thank you @nolacitycouncil.bsky.social for getting this right and EmpowerYouNOLA for posting. Very glad 4 councilmembers showed commitment to public safety. But concerned that 3 councilmembers did not. Remember how your councilmembers vote on public safety; which they all campaign on. #nolasky

My boyfriend took a ride share to his jury duty, but they wouldn't let him take his phone in. They told him to leave it in his car (he doesn't have one of those). There's no public bus to the courthouse in St Bernard. And barely any sidewalks

No, Rep. Newell. No more "except for Orleans Parish" carveouts. If attorneys can bring their phones into the building, so can the public. It's 2026, people need their phones with them. Not to be met at the door with this bizarre, unevenly-enforced rule. #lalege #nolasky

HB183 which would prohibit courts from banning cell phones from entering courthouse buildings was deferred as more information is gathered. The bill is needed in Orleans Parish. "As a matter of economics, [Governor Landry] is probably right..." that New Orleans has too many judges and too many clerks. Errol Laborde also explains why it takes legislators from outside of New Orleans to do what's right here: our delegation lacks political will to do it. #lalege #nolasky

If studies that led to the 2013 legislation said *only one* juvenile court judge was needed all those years ago when the population was greater, why are we still holding on to four judges now? We don't need another study, we need to rightsize our courts. #lalege #lagov #nolasky
