I just finally replaced the battery in my #Pokemon Red Modul for the original #Gameboy. The cell still had 3.174V despite being at least 22 years old and slightly leaky! I suspect it must have been replaced just before I got the module (in 2005/6) Managed to keep my old save too!

fun fact: After testing WinRAR for a reasonable amount (about 25 years) I was actually satisfied and bought a license. And for anyone interested: Its literally just an archive called "rarkey.rar" and opening it activates the Install, no questions asked... (inside there is one file "rarreg.key")

It’s a minor difference… but it’s a difference… After using „TheA500 Mouse“ on an actual Amiga 500, I gotten myself an original mouse. The larger body fits my hand better, while the optical sensor and fresher crisp buttons of the new one are nicer. If the new one would actually work right…

Well - things went smooth, till I had to get the original hinches out… which where held in with plastic clips and a tight fit. Unfortunately the old case didn’t gave them up voluntarily. Also there was a slight error in the official video guide of the kit I got which made it a lot more difficult.

Got myself a new little project: I found it’s time to retire the 24 years old shell of my GBA SP, since it’s quite literally disintegrating. There are lots of cool shells to buy, I decided for that black and gold one. It was my second choice, as my first one is unavailable…

yeah, thermals of that CPU just arent great... afterwards It easily reached its 90°C (with Watercooled), although it also pulled its 105W and did turbo up to 4200Mhz on all cores, so I guess thats alright? I did undervolt it a bit, now it runs less hot (and I even gained a bit of Turbo)

Using that Liquid Metal as thermal compounds was a mistake. Not only is it a mess to apply, but my thermals also weren’t great at all (maybe a mistake by me applying it), and the stuff seems to be actually corrosive… Wish me luck, noctua thermal compounds is next…

Lost my Apple Watch a few weeks ago in my house. It was now found, in the wash-dryer in the door seal, after who knows how many times washing clothes. Charged back up, still works amazingly… a few minor scratches on the screen, the grown beaten up, and the speaker maybe a bit less loud than used to

Tube Amplifier: 1 Speaker: 0 #oops (Should be repairable, for now a Spare speaker (same type) is installed…) Additional info: It’s a 25W 4Ohms L7102 Subwoofer from the East German (GDR) RFT BR25E from 1985. Very nice pair of Speakers…

Well, I tried. Replaced 3 capacitors, but the backlight still doesn’t turn on. Maybe I got the wrong value, maybe something else died too, maybe it wasn’t supposed to happen. Nothing more to do here, it had its run. New one already arrived, and it’s much better anyways…

HP 24“ LCD from 2009 failed today. (mom’s PC). Gave her a link to a cheap new one but decided to give the old one a look. Managed to get it apart, think I found the issues… might even be fixable, it still had picture, just backlight went off after a second…

I again remind myself how lucky of a pick that Canon MG4250 was. This thing is so old it could be considered a Retro printer at this point (even has driver support down to Windows freaking XP!) and it just works. Good Scanner, good colour Ink Printer, never had clogged Printheads never complained...

My gamble worked out, the dead parts machine was drowned in coffee, but it’s screen still works perfectly! Thanks for @ifixit.com for the guide! Total cost: 107€ + 2h work. (Excluding the tools I already had) Not liking the fact that apple uses slightly different screws for every other position

I just won a sad 1 bid auction of a dead (waterdamaged) macbook. Good enough to train the surgery on those devices, and I maybe I can transplant the screen to my broken one, hoping the screen of the water damaged one still works… And still it set me back 100€…

I just found out that the screen of my Gameboy Advance SP has significantly better pixel response time than the screen on my Nintendo DS Lite… I am playing Pinball Deluxe a lot lately. Everything stays nice and sharp on the Advance, but gets blurry on the DS. #Gameboy #NintendoDS

I got myself another CRT (left), since my current one(right)is literally disintegrating… Absolutely worth it, it’s interesting to see how much sharper the newer one is (it’s 8yrs younger and probably hasn’t been used much) Now the question which to use and which to store… #CRT

The compaq armada 1590 confuses me. On one hand it’s an absolute turtle, needing 3 seconds to open explorer on windows 98, on the other hand it happily Software renders 3D in games of its era. And then again, it totally struggles with 2D games, as if the 2D GPU is actually slower then the CPU…

As it turned out: that extra part was useful, as I FU**ing finally figured out how to solder the transistors the way they actually do what I want! I have some specific 3-channel switch-pcb to control the displays via an Arduino without frying the same… now I have two less of empty pcb… 😵‍💫

Upgraded from my Creative Soundblaster X7 to a Tube Amplifier from Dynavox. The Soundblaster was a bit of a misfit in the setup. My Soundsetup is therefore basically complete I think. I have tape, Vinyl, and all sorts of Digital inputs at my disposal and an Amp I don’t need an app for… #Hifi

A TV-Board, filled to the brim with stuff; two RFT BR 25E speakers, and AKAI Tape deck, Doug Audio Switch with VU-Meters, Douk Equilizer (9 Band), Panasonic Blueray player, an Auna Star Receiver, a Dynavox Tube Amplifier, PlayStation 1, some games for the same, and a bunch of Blueray discs (movies)

A Vinly rack, with Vinyls, a player, and a bunch of other stuff I don’t have a better place for currently
