Questionable Ads - A Thread 🧵.

An old time ad for Iver Johnson Revolvers advertising guns for children.

The ad is a black and white illustration showing a child sitting up in her bed with her doll beside her. The child has a small pistol on her lap and she is looking down at it.

The ad text reads, "Iver Johnson Revolvers are not toys: they shoot straight and kill. You may only need one only once in your lifetime: buy now, so that you will have it at that time. Safety Hammerless Automatic $6."

Written over the illustration of the girl is the text, "Papa says it won't hurt us." Under that is written, "Absolutely Safe" and "Accidental Discharge Impossible".
