Two models, dressed as mobsters (the man in a suit and hat and the woman in a red dress and fur wrapped around her neck). The man sits on the edge of the stage, beside some bottles and a globe. Behind him, the woman drapes herself over a couch, looking ahead.

(4/4) NOW ASK ME AGAIN (WHY I WEAR HIJAB)

Page 6: An egg is being shone through with a flashlight, revealing a fetus, turned away from the viewer. It reads: IF YOU'RE TRANS, WHY DO YOU WEAR HIJAB? IF YOU'RE MUSLIM, WHY ARE YOU TRANS? A PEACE OF CLOTHING (IF WORN: A FEMALE SLAVE TO A MAN OPPRESSING INDIVIDUALITY. IF YOUR MIND IS FREE WHY IS YOUR YOLK IN THAT SHELL?) A PIECE OF MIND (IF ACCEPTED: YOUR CAPACITY AND ACTIONS ARE INFINITE IN A WAY THAT AFFRONTS GOD. YOU WORSHIP YET YOU BETRAY. WHY ARE YOU FIGHTING FOR THIS WORLD'S FLESH?)

Rohan/Maryam @fishy.ink · 01/12/2024

(3/4)

Page 4: My younger self sits on the head of a faceless giant wearing a hijab which extends out to look like waves crashing against fire. Behind them a lake is seen, covered somewhat by their billowing clothing. It reads: THERE IS NO "I" IN GOD. HIJAB IS DEBATED AND VARIED. INHERENT REBELLION AND AN ACT OF WORSHIP PURELY BY EXISTING. (FOR ME) AN ACT OF DEVOTION. USE ALL YOUR MIGHT, DO WHAT YOU CAN.

Page 5: Three featureless figures show the progressive poses of a person gripping their face in agony. Below, an image of a butterfly on a flower and plants frame a hijabi, who's leaning back as their heart is pulled from their chest. It reads: I OWN NOTHING BUT MY MIND AND ACTION. WHY DO YOU EXIST? (SORRY IF THIS IS RUDE). IF MY KNEES WERE BLOODIED FROM SAJDA THEY WOULD AVERT THEIR GAZE AND CARVE OUT MY HEART. MY EXISTENCE ONLY MEANS SOMETHING IF MY VESSEL IS PERFECT. ARE YOU A PERFECT VESSEL? IS THIS WHY YOU WISH TO DISROBE AND SHAME MY CORPSE?

Rohan/Maryam @fishy.ink · 01/12/2024

(2/4)

Page 2: An outline of a person emulating the vitruvian man's pose. Within their outline is a collage of images around Makkah and Madinah, with the Kaaba placed over the person's heart. It reads: MY SOUL IS FINITE AND IT IS HALVED. NEVER AM I TO BALANCE THE SELVES IN MY SHELL. I CRIED AT YOUR HOME, I BEGGED YOU THEN AS I HAVE FOR YEARS. HERE I STAND, CLOSER THAN EVER BEFORE, END MY CHARADE AND EXTINGUISH MY EVIL, TELL ME HOW TO ESCAPE AND DESTROY THE IMAGE I WISH FOR SO MUCH.

Page 3: The words on the page form a golden ratio spiral, ending the shape with a blank, featureless person contorting to the shape of the spiral. It reads: IF THERE IS NOTHING TO FIX, HELP ME FIND PEACE, HELP ME BE THE BEST I CAN BE, AND LET ME FEEL THE GRACE OF YOUR TOUCH, WITHOUT BEING BURNED WITH GUILT, PLEASE, I'M SORRY, I LOVE YOU

The first page of a 6 page comic featuring myself as a child. My long curly hair extends out of multiple panels, framing my face and pushing out any background. I am shown speaking to god, and cradling a melting, reflected skeleton of myself in the mirror. It reads: GOD IS NOT A MAN. I USED TO TALK TO HIM LIKE A FRIEND. I THINK I STOPPED OUT OF SHAME. IM SORRY IF YOU HATE ME. THE MIRROR TOLD ME: YOUR FACE IS FROM HELL. SHOULD I DESTROY THIS HELL STRICKEN FACE? WILL THAT BRING ME CLOSER TO YOU?
