Today, thanks to a friend, I looked up scrapple to find out how it's made. And that is a thing I now know.

I am often intensely curious about things. I will frequently stop everything I'm doing to look something up because I *need* to know. I am also easily distracted and may forget to look up the thing I was intensely curious about for... years, literally.

I take every opportunity to get my friends and family to read your books so I can have more people in my life who understand. So far, I have a good friend from high school and my mom. I'm working on my husband. I know he'll love them. He just needs to hurry up and finish whatever he's reading now.

We had a very small birthday celebration for my boss. Nothing huge. He asked us "What is wrong with all of you?" (in a joking way) when presented with his bundt cake and card. I told him "Lots of things. I'll make a spreadsheet." And we laaaaaughed!

Same. Once it's available, anything she writes is an automatic pre-order. Once it's released, I drop one of the books I'm currently reading and power my way through (I only do e-books right now, though I'm considering buying physical copies).

I am also making my way through This Is Where the Future Bleeds by @mikebrooks668.bsky.social (I read it on lunch breaks and before bed). I am trying to persuade my husband to read it, because it's just the sort of book I think he'd enjoy. And yes, I'm loving it. I'm so glad I picked it up.

The only reason I'm not further along is that work is really busy, dammit. Spreadsheets to maintain, databases to update. Yeah.

She just asked me "What do I read next?" Swordheart, of course. And then Daggerbound. She asked if there would be more gnoles. I assured her that there would.

I'm a little over halfway through Daggerbound by @tkingfisher.com . I have been giddy over the release of this book since it was announced. No spoilers, but so far it is everything I was hoping for and then some. Also, I got my mom to read the Clocktaur Wars duology...

Bahahahahahahah! Yeah. Same thing happened to me. When describing it to my husband I told him it was the most wholesome, charming fantasy/horror novel I'd ever read. And then highly recommended it to him.

I mean, I'm old enough to remember that he was a registered Democrat for quite a while, and I didn't like him then, either. It's not about the party. It's about who he is and that he represents the worst of humanity.

It might be at least partially an ADHD thing. I've done the same with fabric. I have the fabric. I have the pattern. I even have the thread... somewhere. But what I lack right now is the force of will to actually cut the fabric to create the costume.

5) I'm reading a lot, because it's one of my favorite pastimes, and since this is a cause near and dear to my heart I've picked up some books for the Trans Rights Readathon (posted separately). I'll update about the books I'll be reading as well.

I get it, the timing of these announcements isn't ideal, but I still believe Huerta and all the other women who are speaking out. I'm gonna need to talk with my therapist about this next week, because it's clearly a huge trigger for me.

Her experiences and those of all the other women he assaulted are tearing at me from the inside. I am a survivor of childhod SA. This is a nightmare, and seeing friends try to minimize that because "oh, the timing is so supicious," is hurting my soul. What happened to beliving the victims?

I'll address the hip thing eventually. Not right away. I have a procedure coming up for my back that takes precedence. Once that's done and working in my favor, I'll focus on my hip. And therapy. While also sorting out a low-carb/low-fat diet. All of those are long overdue. No advice please.

But now I've added a follow up with my PCP and my gastroenterologist. Good times, right? I know what I need to do on the diet front. I don't love it, but I know the drill. My biggest concern is my liver. And getting more active when I have a possible labral tear in my hip.

I've been feeling a bit better since Tuesday. I'm not as close to tears, and I'm tolerating frustration a bit better. But I'm also now dealing with bad news medically... probable diabetes and liver damage... so gee, that's fun. I'd still see the therapist next week even without that.

Crying? Sure. Deep, almost gutteral sobs complete with copious tears and snot? Not so much. And all over a TV show. So yeah, I have an appointment with a therapist so I can start dealing with a bunch of trauma (not just the cancer) that I have stuffed down for decades, like a good Gen X kid.

Two days ago, we watched an episode of The Pitt in which a woman with cancer is trying to pull away from her caretaker/husband... because she sees what it's doing to him. I wound up ugly crying in my husband's arms while our son looked on in horror. He's never seen me get *that* emotional.

To be clear, since he pulled through, I developed fibromyalgia, and my anxiety and stress levels have never really gone down enough for me to feel like everything can ever remotely be okay. Current events aren't helping in the slightest.

So hey, I was my husband's caretaker when he had cancer... so basically 2014-2015. He survived, thankfully. Our child was 4 years old when it all went down. Anyhow, I never really dealt with the trauma. But now, I realize that isn't a viable strategy. So it's time for therapy.

One of the VPs just started humming "La Negra." Like Pavlov's dogs, my fee tt started tapping out the opening steps. I miss dancing. I am in no shape to dance like that. But certain dances will forever remain in my muscle memory... not just my feet, either. They are embedded into all of me.

Mark Kelly represents something he can never be: somebody who served in actual combat. Kegsbreath served in civil affairs operations, an important task to be sure, but it's not combat and Kegsbreath is jealous. He wants to pretend to be a tough guy, but doesn't have the credentials to back that up.

Do the people who run the USA Hockey site even realize the Women's Team also won gold? It isn't even mentioned on their home page, but the men sure do get the spotlight. Yeah, yeah, first time in however many years. Whoopee. And the women, who consistently medal... crickets. teamusa.usahockey.com

Equally minor: I was rushing around, helping out at a friend's wedding. It was raining buckets. I skidded around a corner and nearly crashed into Norm Macdonald, who was touring the venue. He was super nice about it and apologized for being in our way.

Working at the ren faire in Devore many years ago, we (castmates & I) were hanging out near, right near the walkway, playing a game where we tried to spit cherry pits into a bowl. A lady dressed like a barbarian came up and asked if she could join. I said "sure!" Turns out it was Claudia Christian.

Oh wow! I need to find that episode and watch it! That's awesome! And yeah, as much as the 80s teen movies were part of my tween and teen years, there are a lot that I just can't watch anymore because they give me the ick.

Oddly enough, I never managed to see the Milky Way when I lived in Santa Cruz (went to college there). But I did first see it in San Luis Obispo while attending a Renaissance Faire. My most recent sighting was at the summer camp I volunteer at. The power was out first night, and behold! Milky Way!

That said, a lot of them turn into object lessons in how views have changed. So he gets to endure Lectures From Mom and Dad while viewing the more problematic ones. Or at the least, comments about how very wrong certain aspects are.

First - my husband introduced me to Undercover Blues. It is now part of our movie quote shorthand. Second - It is super situational for me with having my kiddo watch the problematic movies. Revenge of the Nerds is also off our list. Also, Sixteen Candles. I just can't.

They complain about "cancel culture" and then do their not-so-level-headed best to cancel a performer because *gasp* he sings songs in Spanish. Noted.

Current read: What Moves the Dead by T Kingfisher. Third go-round. I previously read it and later, did the audiobook version. I don't normally like horror, but I love her writing style. I'll follow up with What Feasts at Night, and then on to What Stalks the Deep. Perfect for spooky season!

Recently finished: Daindreth's Sorceress by Elizabeth Wheatley. I like that she doesn't let the story drag too much. Some of the stuff at the end was damn brutal... but honestly, that's to be expected when you're dealing with demons, assassins, and a regime change.
