Retired, now working through a backlog of kits, but can’t seem to stop buying new ones either!

Could try a couple washes to get in all the seams and around bolt heads etc?

Progress on the Bugatti. Engine, rad and fuel tank all in situ. On the next page I see I have to wire in all the dashboard 🙃😳 #histscalemodels #italiaGB

Yes, it goes on really well with a brush. I’m no airbrush expert but I’d say it’s better using a quality brush

It wasn’t too bad as I only used it on pipework but it would look fabulous on a flat surface. The bottle actually has a “rattle ball” inside to make sure it’s well mixed

No there’s a specific Vallejo wash called engine , I diluted it so I could layer a couple of coats. See pic

And the liquid metal for the copper pipes was a new one for me. More chassis work next. This post has been re-sent as I’ve now updated my Bluesky. #histscalemodels #italiaGB

Engine on the Bugatti is now largely finished - plug leads go on later. Base colour was aluminum which was too shiny. Overlaid it with a dilute wash of engine grime then added more “dirt” via fine liner. 2 other great colours; the gun metal was really deep which was very effective

But great for the copper pipework. It’s coming together nicely and I’ve been inspired by the stuff you guys produce on here. Pics to follow.

Bugatti engine is finished for now. Base colour was aluminum but that was way too shiny. Overlaid it with a diluted wash wash of engine grime and panel liner for more accents And patina. The gunmetal is a lovely deep colour and the Liquid Metal was a new one for me

Hi guys just reposted my Bugatti post without the hashtags and it’s loaded OK. Any ideas as to why the pics don’t appear when I use the hashtags?

Started the Bugatti. This is the chassis, carried out some weathering on the gearbox incl. a bit of an “oil leak”. This is going to take the rest of the time allocated for the group build I think as there’s so much opportunity on a 1/12 Kit to finesse details.

The interior of the Ferrari. The white metal is a bit grotty - it is a v old kit. Cut out the rear seat and added in a fuel tank and a fire extinguisher system. New racing seat with PE seat harness. now it’s all glued in I need to fill the holes and top coat it #histscalemodels #italiaGB

I used to use all enamels. I now use all acrylics apart from some washes. I’ve found that for me, there’s a much bigger range in acrylic rather than the humbrol range and washing brushes in water is so much easier!

Off we go. This is a 1/43 scale kit By Luca Tameo from 1982. (Where did my life go?) It’s a white metal kit which can be built as stradale or competizione. I’m doing the latter which means I need to source a racing seat from somewhere. Ferrari 275gtb. #histscalemodels #ItaliaGB

The Lotus 88b is done.not an ideal finish which is really disappointing, but the left hand radiator didn’t fit at all well, disappointing for an otherwise really good kit. Anyway here it is in its case. Clearing my bench now for #italiaGB #histscalemodels
