Except a significant share of the electorate voted for Trump so how are we going to show the world out dignity?

I don’t understand the need to provide evidence of switching. We know Dems were the party of the KKK. The modern GOP loves to point this out. But they never answer what the party of Lincoln was doing when Reconstruction was being dismantled. What they were doing while Jim Crow was being installed.

Got mine today and here is the story: Under federal regulations, an insurer selling a policy through a federally facilitated Marketplace pays HHS a fee calculated as a %of the premium . The fee is used to administer the ACA marketplace. There is a surplus and they returned some to enrollees.

That stereotype needs to die: I’m the tail end of the boomer generation, wrote software for 40 years and was using the “internet” in the late 1980s before the web. I laugh when young people tell me I don’t know how to use the “internet”.

Thank for saying this. For decades, I tried getting my while colleagues to understand police brutality. After laying out what I thought were reasonable concerns they responded with some variation of “I don’t see it”.

What makes you think she is an ally of people of color? Other than her skin color, what has she said or done that would make her an ally of people of color?

I already answered this: her husband is VP to the White Supremacist in Chief. She clerked for John Roberts the architect of the destruction of the Voting Rights Act. African Americans died to get the right to vote. Clerking for the man destroying the VRA makes you an enemy to people of color.

Usha does not see herself as “a person of color”. She is married to and clerked for white men whose main goal is white supremacy. She is complicit in a system designed to oppress people of color.

We do vote, the problem is when we vote Democrats in all we get are excuses and weakness. I have thousands of issues with the GOP, but their voters know when they get in office they will steamroll democrats. What are we gonna get? I have no idea.

It will never happen. Deficits are larger than ever and Fed is considering raising rates.

It’s been tyranny since Police Departments have been allowed to kill people in black and brown communities with impunity. It has now spread to the rest of the country.

I’m here for the decline of this empire. It was built on kidnapping, racism, genocide, lies and one set of rules for the wealthy and another set for everyone else. All empires fail and destruction usually comes from arrogance and hubris.

You continue to make excuses for Lincoln. He did not believe in equality. He was willing to do whatever it took to unite the country, including working with a white supremacist. All of this is fine for his goal, just don’t try to sell me the “equality” lie. No evidence he believed it.
000
firejourney.bsky.social @firejourney.bsky.social · 02/08/2026
His beliefs in 1864 were such that he nominated a white supremacist to be his VP. When Lincoln was assassinated Johnson withdrew all support for former slaves. Again Lincoln never espoused any ideas about equality, despite evolving on the idea of abolition.

Bingo. People of color have begged this country to reign in the murderous tactics of the police. Of course it was largely ignored now the police state has been nationalized and now anyone can be a victim.

firejourney.bsky.social @firejourney.bsky.social · 14/07/2026
Agreed. I have zero confidence that if we elect a Democratic Congress that the funding will be reduced. Democrats railed against the Trump tax cuts in his first term, then left them intact after Biden was elected. Government funding tends to be sticky

The police in the USA have been killing people of color for decades with impunity. The fact that it has scaled to a national model should surprise no one.

America never was the “land of the free”, we were just good at lying to the rest of the world. How does a country hold human beings in bondage for most of its history and get that label?

firejourney.bsky.social @firejourney.bsky.social · 13/07/2026
Congress LOL. Our government is corrupt and the people in charge are out for themselves with a few notable exceptions. America is an empire and all of them fall. Usually due to hubris, overreach and internal fighting.

This is all true but the ACA was doomed from the beginning: the whole leave it to the states bit meant Republicans were always going to sabotage it. We had one chance pass Universal HealthCare but decided to go with a Heritage Foundation plan.

Stop looking for signs of life from a dead party, we have to organize and save ourselves.

It won’t. We have been so sliced and diced by class, gender, race, religion and of course political ideology that we are voting to destroy ourselves.

Please stop. He may not have always been a fascist, but he was a shameless opportunist. This is the same man that lectured the country about Clinton and said the sanctity of the office needed to be protected and cleansed. And he supported Trump to the end.

They never were trustworthy, Go back to the dot com crash they were pumping dot com companies with zero profits and not forcing analysts to disclose conflicts of interest. In the run up to the 2008 financial crash they were pumping housing, and all the toxic assets that brought the market down.

Charles Stuart, who killed his pregnant wife and blamed it on a Black man in Boston would like a word. I lived there at the time and it was a hellscape as the BPD stopped and frisked every random black man.

White men fought a Revolutionary War against Britain and got their equality. They are not begging Britain for equality 250 years later. Why are other people told to wait and “progress is being made”?
000
firejourney.bsky.social @firejourney.bsky.social · 04/07/2026
It is mean to counter the narrative of Lincoln as a believer in equality. Believing in one’s inherent superiority is not a “vice” it is called racism. You seem triggered by Lincoln’s own words. 🤷🏿‍♂️

Also Lincoln in 1858: “I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races—that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office …”

No worries. I kept at it because I knew we largely agreed just want to get the “equality” idea across. Thank you staying open and curious, I really appreciate it. I’m so used to being attacked in other platforms

I was responding to your comments “equal rights are a more recent development”. I think we broadly agree, I disagree on the “equal rights” aspect.
110
firejourney.bsky.social @firejourney.bsky.social · 03/07/2026
Our disagreement is I don’t believe “equality” is a goal, which is why it has not happened. My argument is that if “equality”’were truly a goal we would not have to resort to “but things are getting better aren’t they?”. If equality for non-white men were a goal it would have happened.
100
firejourney.bsky.social @firejourney.bsky.social · 03/07/2026
I appreciate what you are saying and there has been progress but this country has (IMHO) little interest in pursuing equal rights. There is a major difference between removing barriers to voting and believing “All men are created equal”.
100
firejourney.bsky.social @firejourney.bsky.social · 03/07/2026
A nation dedicated to “all men are created equal” does not wait almost 150 years after its founding to grant women the right to vote. It does not pass laws lynch, bomb and intimidate people to prevent them from voting.
010
firejourney.bsky.social @firejourney.bsky.social · 03/07/2026
LOL. Spoken like someone who wants to keep the status quo. When white men fought for independence and freedom from the British, they fought a war and it was accomplished in a few short years. Why in the case of minorities, women, etc. are we “moving closer” hundreds of years after our founding?
020
firejourney.bsky.social @firejourney.bsky.social · 03/07/2026
The core founding principles of this country are rooted in white supremacy. “These people” actually love and want to maintain those principles.

firejourney.bsky.social @firejourney.bsky.social · 02/07/2026
What is criminal is both Obama And Biden came into office essentially saying “we want to move forward, not look back”. The uncomfortable truth is elements of the Democratic Party have enabled this corruption and criminality.

I’ll check back in with you in a few years when your enthusiasm meets with the reality of the spineless Demicratic Party. 😂 Pointing out reality is not complaining, it’s saving myself from the inevitable disappointment. Meanwhile I will enjoy my retirement. 😉

I don’t have to have a plan, that is the job of our elected officials in a representative Democracy. If your “plan” is expansion of the court, plan to be disappointed by the spinelessness of the Democratic Party.
