Ah, September, pumpkin-spice season and the beginnings of sweater weather. (Except here in the American midwest, it's 'shorts weather' until there's snow on the ground.) Here in the WiX repo, the summer...

With more than 300 meetings under our belts, earlier this month the WiX Toolset YouTube channel turned 13 years old! We began lovingly hand-writing these meeting highlights a year and a half later. As...

We're at that point in Northern Hemisphere summer where the weather is actively taunting us. For me here in the USA Midwest, late July is usually the swampiest part of summer. But this week, it's comfortable...

Our fortune continues this month: We have only a few issues reported and none indicate an incoming storm of fallout from the release of WiX v7 back in April. We'll count it as skill more than luck, but...

We held our last meeting a week early so it's been five weeks between meetings. It took a little bit to get back into the groove of things. Luckily, we had a relatively small number of bugs and none that...

WiX v7 was released on schedule and we're enjoying spring weather with occasional April showers bringing May WiX v8 features. Or later, because our next milestone is WiX v8.0.0-rc.1 in ten months. Pick...

Spring is here and warmer, wetter weather brings us new releases. First up is WiX v7, which we might've mentioned occasionally. As we love the opportunity to simultaneously ship software, we're also bringing...

Today we held our last meeting before the (scheduled) release of WiX v7 on 6-April. There were no ship-stopping issues for us to triage—but it's not too late to find a bug that sounds so bad it spikes...

A month after shipping WiX v7.0.0-rc.1, WiX v7.0.0-rc.2 is now out. We're a month out from WiX v7.0.0 shipping, so now's your chance: Download it, use it—it's an easy job to upgrade—and report any...

Normally we do new-issue triage first, then do review of issues pending for our next release. Today, Rob reversed the order and it took me a good 20 minutes to get over it. Or did I? Either way, we talked...

For the third year in a row, we're shipping a new WiX release candidate for your packaging business and pleasure. Download it, use it—it's an easy job to upgrade—and report any bugs you discover.

Sometimes lessons don't come from perfect demos. Sometimes the lessons come from mistakes. Big mistakes. Catastrophic mistakes. This episode happens to be one of those.

Since our last meeting, winter has settled in here in the northern hemisphere. Personally, I'm not a fan. It's cold, which brings the need for gloves and hats. It's snowy and icy, which means boots and...

This was a great episode to finish out the year. We use everything we've learned this season to build something real. As always we encounter some surprises and use those moments to learn more and solidify...

We are well into winter here in the northern hemisphere—even though it's not technically winter for a few more days. In the Pacific Northwest, winter is wet, especially this year. Here in Michigan,...

In this episode, we use everything we've learned over the last couple of months to avoid doing work. It takes a lot of mistakes but that's still one of the best ways to really learn the ins and outs of...

In the week leading up to Thanksgiving here in the United States, I'm looking forward to a traditional Thanksgiving meal of pizza, Chinese takeout, and pumpkin pie. Hey, you have your traditions, I have...

In this episode, we dig into batching: MSBuild's for loop. We finally apply our new MSBuild knowledge to work and I find a way to delete my project. It's a good time.

Episode 5 steps into intermediate MSBuild territory with item metadata. We explore the attributes that slice and dice our collections of objects and unlock MSBuild's more advanced behaviors.

The FireGiant Cinematic Universe added another character to the Deployment Dojo in Episode 2, the one and only Bob Arnson. David was away on business so Bob stepped in for our lesson on MSBuild Targets....

It's summer here in the Northern Hemisphere and the angry day star is making things hot and sweaty. A great alternative is staying in an air-conditioned office fixing bugs and adding features to your...

Whoo! I'm so happy to be back in the Deployment Dojo. Season 2 is here and we will be exploring MSBuild. That may be a bit of a surprise but setup development often requires working closely with the build...
